It was fine… amazing location! Absolutely beautiful views. The owner picked out our wines which sounds like that is the process which is fine but we didn’t enjoy the picks. Washington has a plethora of amazing wine!!! We were brought a Spanish wine which had very little flavor and a Washington wine which is a cheaper brand we have purchased before and it wasn’t our favorite. The website advertises “bites” but there is no food. So we enjoyed the view and each others company and went off to find food. I would go back for the view but that’s about it. Also it’s good to know before you go, the cost is divided between red or white and all the reds cost the same and all the whites cost the same. I can tell the owners hearts are in it and obviously some people love this spot! Just wasn’t for us, and that’s ok too.

The Skybar is a little gem of a wine bar on San Juan Island. With an AMAZING view of the Friday Harbor Marina, and an extensive selection of wines from every corner of the universe, it is one of my favorite places to hang out. It’s got a happy, friendly, laid back kind of atmosphere under the sun and the stars, with an eclectic clientele and a host and hostess (owners) who’ve led super interesting lives and are happy to share their vast life experiences and wine expertise with those fortunate enough to discover this little slice of heaven in Friday Harbor! You’ll walk in as a stranger and walk out as a friend!

We loved the vibe at this wine bar! Absolutely gorgeous view of the harbor and a wonderful place to enjoy a glass of wine paired with a card game! We were feeling spontaneous and liked having wines chosen by our server based on our individual preferences. All 3 of us loved our personalized picks!

An absolute MUST if you are visiting the island. The owners are so welcoming and we had the most wonderful time chatting and enjoying the atmosphere. We can't wait to come back with more friends.

Pros:-Nice view-The wine we had was good-There are heatersCons:-There is no wine menu? The owner came up to us as if making small talk, asking us what kind of wines we like, then left and brought us two glasses of wine that, admittedly, we enjoyed. But she never told us that she was going to pick our wine for us, so we were sort of blind-sided by this method. Then, when the bill came, of course it turned out each glass was $17/each, whereas we probably would have picked something cheaper.-The vibe, partly because of above, was just generally uncomfortable. The owner is a little too talkative and sort of chased us out. Including my wife and I, during our one-glass stay, 3 other couples came, had one glass, and quickly left. One couple came, sat, obviously became uncomfortable, and left without ordering anything.-There is no food despite this being advertised on their website.-The fact that this place has 15 5-star reviews that are out of this world (and mention the owner by name) tells me that the owner has 15 friends who left her good reviews, which is a bummer and partly the reason that I decided to leave a review. Our experience was VERY discordant with the other reviews.-I hate seeing businesses respond to negative reviews by being aggressive and rude. Just suck up your pride, write "we're sorry you had a bad time", and try to please the next person. I guess we'll see if I get a response.Overall, 2 stars for a nice view and good wine, but the no-menu thing and the overall vibe here were major detractors. Like I said, we quickly left (and had to make up that we had dinner reservations because the owner asked us why we were leaving...).In the future, consider saying to your guests "I can get you a wine menu or I can pick a wine I think you might like based on your taste and price point". We would not come back here.
