As always, Oystertale delivers a superior experience. The service is professional and friendly. The ever-changing menu is incredible. The wine and cocktail offerings are superb. And the atmosphere is so welcoming. I love this place and will miss it over the winter closing.
We had an amazing meal at Oystertale - and the staff were also incredible. Everything we ate stood out - oysters (of course), butternut squash hummus, SJI salad, house sliders, and a pumpkin churro waffle for dessert. Great location, great food, wonderful service - a real treat!
Oystertale has become a great way to celebrate special occasions in our family. Small plates this visit included pan fried oysters and the mushroom appetizer. Entrees included the waffles, a steak and ling cod. We will be back.
This was my second visit to Oystertale. I had the same great food and service as the first time. The seafood chowder and Ling Cod sliders were amazing.
Lots of servers, no table clearers. The menu was fantastic and food was tasty. Loved the setting too.
Our appetizer, the crab dip, was good. The main courses were small and arrived about 50 minutes after we ordered. We were one of the first reservations of the night, arriving at 5:00pm. My husband's steak was cold and the frites were hard and very dry. The purple savory clam linguine was a super small portion of linguine with 6 or 7 very tiny clams and a bland sauce. We went home still hungry after paying over $100 for our meal. We have lived in Friday Harbor for a few decades and had dined at the Oystertale about a year ago and really enjoyed it. Last night was particularly disappointing as it was our first time out to eat in more than 8 months and we had good expectations from our past experience.
Something unexplained and unapologetically went wrong in the kitchen. Food took 40 min to come after ordering and only had one check-in during that time. When food was finally served half the dishes were cold and one was served five min after the others (again no check in to see how the food was). We wanted dessert but everything had gone so wrong up to that point asked for the check as fast as we could and left. Disappointed is an understatement.
Attentive service and clean, cute interior with a well-varied wine list. You can watch the oysters get shucked and there was a good selection of oysters, too. That was definitely the best part! We made a reservation after walking by one night and it smelled really good! In the end, dinner was pretty good but underwhelming. Fresh but lacking flavor. For example, the clams and pasta included a generous serving of clams and just-enough fresh pasta but the broth wasn't garlicy or salty. The waffles were filling but a little overcooked/ brown. Glad we could try a new place on the island!
We went to Oystertail on the recommendation of a friend whose daughter was a friend of the owner. I don't believe she had been there. The menus looked good so we made a reservation and popped in. The place is small but cute, atmosphere is light and happy. Our waitress was very friendly and informative about the menu. I was torn between the crab waffles and a clam linguine, but the waffle won out as it was different. It was very good! Rather a lot of food, but my husband had ordered smaller items so he helped out. It was a lot of fresh crab, with some whipped cheese of some kind. Served with a wonderful lemon honey drizzle for the top. All our food was very fresh and good. Highly recommended!
Our dinner was one of the most amazing that I can remember. The farm to table dinner was over the top. Raw Oysters, White Salmon, Salad, Clam Linguine and dessert were all amazing. The atmosphere was perfect for the Islands. They use a team service approach and everyone that served us was wonderful. I'm coming back it's worth the drive and ferry ride for Oystertail alone.

I wanted to try this place for a while now, but the service was definitely lacking. It really took forever and didn’t really felt taking care of. The vibe is cool, I like the cocktails. The food is okay I would say, the price is not calibrated to its quality. Being Italian I could tell you they have no idea how to make pasta.

Made a reservation, but when we showed up we were sat at the bar, they wouldn't give us a table. Food was fine, although the fries in the steak frites were comically bad, like someone was trying to recreate fries after only ever seeing a picture of them. Like shoestring day old bread.
Excellent food and ambience. Our waitress was attentive and knew the menu well. Fantastic cocktails. We will be back!
Phenomenal food! I am not a raw oyster lover but my family said they were incredible. Even if you don't love raw oysters there is so much on the menu for you. We chose to order a whole bunch of items to share and it was a great way to go! My absolute favorite were the Lingcod sliders...incredible! We sat on the patio and enjoyed a wonderful evening, ordering drinks and sharing food
