The people are very nice. The food is flat out awful and vastly overpriced. I am telling you- go somewhere else!

While spending a long weekend in beautiful Gig's Harbor, we found some really great little restaurants, in this case Il Locano. Even though it was a Saturday night and we arrived without a reservation... and the place was VERY busy... we were seated after only a couple of minutes. Our Caesar salads and pasta entrees (puttaneska for my wife and simple spaghetti and meatballs for me) were plentiful and delicious. The slices of Italian bread they brought to the table were very tasty with the mix of olive oil and herbs they pour onto a dish for you to dip. All in all, this is a great place to eat and we'll happily go back!

We've eaten here a few times over the past four years. This last time was unfortunate. We were celebrating my sister's birthday and she wanted Italian. The food was decent, however I don't think it was worth the price. The server was by herself and hustled throughout our meal. I am relieved the restaurant wasn't busy. It was always packed before. My main irritation was settling the tab. On the receipt, in fine print, it said that a credit card fee of 9$ would be added if I did not pay in cash. I get that the restaurant environment is terrible for owners. If you are going to pass your fees to your customers, it should be listed more clearly on the menu or perhaps on the door so that we can walk out. It really is a buzz kill when a restaurant cannot operate to the point of covering its own credit card fees. For four of us, the bill was $260 before tip. Yes, we did appetizers, entrees and dessert with a bottle of wine. For me it's not about the money, it's more about if you choose to burden your customers, expect the consequence of us never returning.

There were a ton of empty tables, but we were told we would have to wait 20 minutes, or sit at a high top by the restroom. They were not busy at all. They don't take reservations. We ended up leaving.

What's not to love here? I can't believe I've been here 9 years and just found out about this restaurant. This was my second choice for a birthday celebration, and I was pleasantly surprised! I mean the food was out of this world good. Such rich and full flavor profiles. There's something on the menu for everyone. We had a party of 8 and it was crazy busy on a Tuesday, but they didn't drop the ball at all. The chef/owner was kind and welcoming. They mistakenly messed up our reservation, but they took great care of us. I went back again just two week ago and had something completely different and it was just so so good. The first time I had the. Veal Osso buco. The second time I had the Trio with meatballs, manicotti, and some I can't remember it it was delicious. I had the white sauce. It was filling but not in a way that leaves you feeling uncomfortable. I would definitely go here again, and then again. If you like The Green House/Mossimos/the Loft, then this is right up your alley. The only the negative is the location. It's a little run down. I don't know if the same quality would happen in a larger location, but I was very impressed.

The atmosphere in this restaurant was exceptionally traditional. I add eggplant parmesan, and my wife the vegetable minestrone soup. Our waiter was absolutely fantastic. All in all a great dining experience.

We hadn't been here for several years after a very pleasant experience, not sure why we didn't go back sooner. It was still AMAZING! The owners still greet you and say a sincere thank you as you leave, you still get a warm atmosphere and bread and oil before your meal. The food was very flavorful and no feeling bloated like we do sometimes with the chain Italian restaurants. Highly recommend for lunch or dinner!

We really enjoyed our night. Excellent food, excellent wine selection, great environment, and great service. Our four top enjoyed lamb, veal Marsala, eggplant, and a special pasta dish. The veal was especially special as was the Chianti Classico. We ordered our deserts to go only because we had to relieve the sitter. We got to meet the owner; he was doing a walk-by at each table. Nice touch. The atmosphere is very New York-ish, very comfortable. An oddity on payment. They charge 3% for credit cards OR debit cards. They prefer cash or check. Huh? I've never heard of 3% charge to a debit card. And who carries checks. Get real please on all this.

Pretty good Italian restaurant. My wife loved the Chicken Marsala. My Lasagna was good, not great. The place was nice inside and the service was great. If you are in Gig Harbor and looking for Italian food, I would check out Il Luciano.

We've been coming here for years as you can't beat the fantastic food, the beautiful atmosphere and the nicest owner you will ever meet. The service is impeccable and so friendly. We have made this a go-to for a very long time- it's perfect for a date night or a family night out. It always feels like you are family when you are there.
