Check out Java & Clay Cafe in Entrepreneur's 2024 America's Favorite Mom & Pop Shops™!
View from across the street. Friendly staff and excellent drinks. Sometimes there's a long wait but it's worth it.

Compared to other ceramic places, Java and Clay Cafe had an absolutely great selection to pick from.

Great idea! Fantastic place to try your skill at painting ceramics to be fired which you can pick up approximately a week later.

A perfect place to spend the day. The food is excellent as well as the service. They have a great selection of items to paint. I wish the ceramics were cheaper however.

My grand kids and I loved our time together creating and visiting! They took great care of us! Highly recommend!
Overall was a really fun experience. Didn’t feel rushed, and enjoyed spending the time with my sister. The space is rather small, though. I think it would be way more functional if the areas were moved around.
The reason for low rating is because the mug I painted wasn’t properly sealed. There are multiple spots on the inside that were missed, presumably from quickly dipping the mug in clear glaze and there being air pockets. For the price, you would think more care would be put into my item as it is no longer usable as a functional mug. A little disappointed but love the idea of a cafe and a ceramic painting shop.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Java & Clay Factory, and I must say, it exceeded all expectations. Painting ceramics there was an absolute blast! The variety of pieces to choose from was impressive, and the process was so much fun. The staff's hospitality was outstanding; they were incredibly helpful and friendly throughout the entire experience. Overall, my time at Java & Clay was exceptional, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable activity.

I worked here for around four years and it costs me absolutely nothing to say how great a place this is. The product and experience they provide is high quality, the employees work hard, the overall vibe is super fun, and the manager and owners have put tremendous effort into providing a truly excellent experience. I’ve always been impressed with how much the owners care about their customers and it shows in the fiercely loyal group of regulars, who frequent Java & Clay every week.
Vegetarian options: In addition to several alternative milk options, they also provide both vegetarian pastries and sandwiches.

Love this place! I come once a week to spend time with my mom and the vibes and the staff here are amazing ?. The prices are very reasonable and include the whole process! Best part is if you can’t finish your piece, there is no extra charge to come back and use the paint to finish it.

I love Java and Clay, it’s my weekly happy place! There’s always a huge variety of pieces to choose from, the hardest part is picking which one to paint. Their coffee and sandwiches are amazing, and oh that lavender lemonade, yum! Great atmosphere and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable! Just a fun place to relax and be creative.

A family friendly place. Busy times we share tables and share ideas of what we want to paint. I say we because my daughter and I enjoy painting at Java & Clay. I also bring my grandkids for some one on one time. The staff always makes great food (sandwiches, sweet treats, cinnamon rolls are amazing)and a perfect cup of coffee. I really enjoy going there because the atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. I would recommend it highly.
Kid-friendliness: The workers are wonderful with kids. Check out the picture I picked. And they are great at doing hand prints on a plate. The workers are great with the kids, great family friendly and even for the couples. They even have birthday parties there. Great place for the kids to paint that special present.

Love this family run shop! It’s a great place to grab a coffee and a sandwich or sit down with your kids or a friend and have a paint day. Great selection of pottery to choose from and you get your finished product back in about a week or so. Best part is they are open on the Monday holidays!

The chai is disturbing sweet and syrupy. I guess I’m not shocked that they made it
From concentrate but they could have at least read the instructions. Very sad this is the only coffee shop (except a drive through) in gig harbor.
