I was travelling for a couple days in Index and Bill and his wife (owners of the place) were amazing hosts. They were great guides around the town of Index and all the coast and states in USA . I felt so welcome in this place , the food they made for us was delicious. I hightly recommand to stop by. Historic building, welcoming owners and great food. Lou, Bless you Bill

The food wasn't the greatest. One of my potatoes was burnt. My husband and i both got the ribeye steak, and we've had much better steaks at other places like The Outback. We asked for a side of asparagus, meaning for it to be with our meal, but it was brought out well before and wasn't even seasoned. It was cold by the time my meal came. We went for our anniversary because we stayed at an Airbnb nearby and there aren't many other nice places around. The experience wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I wouldn't go back for what we paid.

My cousin had a beautiful wedding here, however, when we left, my husband left his suit jacket. We contacted the River House the next day, and they confirmed they found it. Then we asked them to mail it to us (we live out of the state) & we would pay. It has been at least 6 months of multiple emails and calls and they refuse to speak with us and give us our belongings. Terrible communication and quite sad. I was pleased with the location and sad to see they responded this way. We would have really liked our item back. Would be 5 stars if the communication was better.
Calling all adventure seekers, wedding planners & road trippers seeking food & caffeine, the River House is minutes off of WA 2 on the way up to Steven's Pass. The abundant towering evergreens, cliff rock and meandering North Fork Skykomish River will soak up all life's problematic thoughts. Located about an hour or so from Seattle; worth the drive; rent a kayak, trail hike, rock climb, book your private event, come breathe mountain fresh air.

We used the river house as our wedding venue and it was absolutely stunning!!! I would highly recommend this venue simply because of the amazing scenery with the Mountain View’s and river. The space is roomy as we had about 130 guests and was plenty of room. We rented the bush house out for the wedding party and it went perfectly since it was walking distance. We did pictures there and were able ti get ready and hang out in a large space. They were flexible with our requests for dogs in the wedding and bringing supplies early. They allowed us to pick our own vendors, do Costco alcohol with a licensed bartender and we had the venue to ourself the whole day until 11pm. (Quiet time is 10pm tho)
My only suggestions if you are considering using them is the location is far to get vendors to get there. Airbnb’s are somewhat limited and there are very few hotels. Have a plan b rain plan or get a tent! We needed it. They don’t have any table/chairs or tents at the venue so we had to rent separately and get delivered which is an added cost to keep in mind. Day of staff were extremely attentive and friendly and were so easy to work with! however months prior to the event I had a hard time getting email responses a few times from Cathy. As the day approached closer they did get better replying to my questions but I did get worried at one point about that but continued to follow up and it all worked out.
