I was travelling for a couple days in Index and Bill and his wife (owners of the place) were amazing hosts. They were great guides around the town of Index and all the coast and states in USA . I felt so welcome in this place , the food they made for us was delicious. I hightly recommand to stop by. Historic building, welcoming owners and great food.

We used to have a cabin in Index… sooo beautiful… loved the tavern and the River House… so many great memories… Barbara Peterson was the owner of the tavern…Linda and Don McKay!!

The food wasn't the greatest. One of my potatoes was burnt. My husband and i both got the ribeye steak, and we've had much better steaks at other places like The Outback. We asked for a side of asparagus, meaning for it to be with our meal, but it was brought out well before and wasn't even seasoned. It was cold by the time my meal came. We went for our anniversary because we stayed at an Airbnb nearby and there aren't many other nice places around. The experience...
