Absolutely amazing, hands down the best sushi we have had. This is a one man operation and honestly, I don’t know how he does it. All of the fish is flown in from all over the world and is the absolute best top notch quality. Follow his IG to see when reservations drop. You’ll have to book a couple weeks out but it’s worth the wait! You’ll preorder your food while making a reservation as well.
Other notes: pretty easy to find street parking in this area of Kent, we’ve never had an issue. Enter right at your reservation time, no earlier. It’s an intimate space best for couples and small groups.

My friend took me here for my birthday dinner for the first time and I definitely will return. I felt like I was back in Japan. From the service to presentation to the high quality ingredients was exceptional. My friend made a reservation about 3 weeks prior and we also made our sushi selection at this time, as required. The restaurant is a one man restaurant and it is small but that’s what makes it feel like I’m back in Japan. There was only one other party of two in the restaurant at the same time as my friend and I which made the dinner feel intimate and special. The chef works three jobs (more probably) - from preparing the sushi to cleaning off tables to checking you out and he does amazing! He not only had the time to do three jobs but he had the time to check in on my friend and I multiple times to ensure we were enjoying our meal. I would come here every week if I could ! I highly recommend Sushi Kaunta for any occasion! I am already looking forward to my next visit.

Best sushi south of Seattle, hands down! All of the fish was extra fresh, and the owner explained the origin of each one. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Sushi Kaunta is a hidden gem in the historic district of downtown Kent. Located in the Titusville building, this spot is a must visit (if you’re lucky enough to snag a reservation on Tock) in a otherwise pretty quiet and dead area of town. Chef Sean provides great service and the meals he prepares are always top notch. My go to order is always the 14 piece chefs choice nigiri and the premium kaisen don! Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

By far the best Sushi spot in Washington, and probably the entire PNW. Been here twice now, and it is consistently delicious. Haven't had sushi this good outside of Japan. Can't hype this guy up enough- he's the real deal.

Absolutely Outstanding Sushi – Worth Every Effort!
Truly a gem in Kent! Outstandingly fresh seafood.
Many of them are air transported from various country, and the chef choose the best ones from all over the world.
It's a bit hard to make a reservation during the busy time, but I'm willing to get off from work early to eat here! You will order everything when you are making the reservation.
If you love mackerel, the Saba maki is one of the best ones I had in the USA.
The chef puts wasabi and soy sauce on fish for you right before serving, so I would recommend not putting any extra condiments so that you can enjoy the full aroma and taste.

Fresh sushi served in an intimate space. Very good selection and service was timely. Would love to eat here again! Review the menu before you make a reservation because there’s lots to choose from.

My husband and I have celebrated both of our birthdays here, and each visit has been an exceptional experience. Chef Sean is incredibly polite and attentive, and the ambience is warm and comfortable. It’s truly our favorite spot for sushi. We ordered the Chef’s Choice 14-Piece Nigiri and the Premium Kaisen Don—both were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We can’t wait to come back again.
