Great vegan sushi options! Had a separate menu. Amazing selection - will definitely come here again to have the veg crunch and fried tofu rolls.
Quick note for lunch hours, last entry is at 2:30pm and last order is at 2:45pm for lunch as the restaurant is closed for an hour for lunch.

Generous portions for surprisingly good price considering the location. Nice cozy space, plenty of vegan options. Friendly, attentive service. The katsu chicken was thicker than any I've had anywhere else. I think the seasoning could have been stronger- more salt maybe, but the fact that they make something less salty versus too salty is preferable in my option.

Bunch of us went about 1.5 hrs before closing. It's a cute cozy place with Japan vibes and it can't seat more than 6 at a table
We had sushi, hot sake and katsu curry. Ambience, plating and food were all great!! Loved this place and will visit again
They have an entire vegan menu with good sushi offerings, is definitely a plus for me!!
Tofu katsu curry was good

I’m very disappointed with my recent experience at Kamakura in Kirkland. We ordered a Vegan Yakisoba for lunch, but the restaurant gave us Chicken Yakisoba instead. This was not a delivery issue—we went in person to pick up the food.
My wife has been a pure vegetarian for 30 years, and trusting that this dish was vegan, she took a bite only to realize it was chicken. This caused her a lot of distress, both emotionally and physically, and she even had to throw up. Her religious sentiments were deeply hurt.
When we called the restaurant, they apologized and explained it happened because they were very busy. All they offered was a refund. While mistakes do happen, the lack of care and attention to detail in this case was extremely upsetting and unacceptable.
If you are vegan or vegetarian, please be very cautious about what you’re served here. Unfortunately, this experience has left us with no trust in Kamakura, and we will not be returning.
I hope our experience helps others make an informed decision.

Easily the best Japanese meal I’ve had in Seattle. Very authentic, lots of vegan dishes and absolutely yummy! It was exactly like how I’ve read in Japanese novels :)

I went one afternoon and the food was great. Then about a month later I had been raving to friends and took them there. This time the food was absolutely gross! The quality was so bad, meat had grissle. It was dinner and I think the food had been left over from lunch. In past years, apparently different owners, it was a restaurant I'd Not have recommended, but this dinner with neighborhood friends could have really added to their business. It isn't anything to write home about!

I've been to the location in town where I've asked if the vegan food is cooked together with the seafood and other non vegan items. The location in town assured me they weren't. I came to the Kirkland location and asked again, to which they said all the vegan items are cooked with the shellfish. This is done to enable meat eaters who are allergic to shellfish to be safe from allergens. I was left with almost no options left to choose from on the "vegan menu". Very disappointing experience.
This is my favorite Japanese restaurant! Everything I've tried is so tasty, and I especially love the Karai Crunch roll. Thank you for another delicious meal!

The vegan menu is fantastic! A great selection of offerings. The atmosphere isn't quite the same as it's Seattle location, which feels like the 'flagship' restaurant. The staff are friendly and welcoming and are good at double checking if the food choice is for the Vegan or Non-Vegan option.

We loved the extensive vegan menu at Kamakura. We love their sister restaurant in Seattle and this food was just as good. We love that they have vegan sushi options as well as a variety of vegan entrees. The way they do their tofu is so good. The space is small, but service was fast and friendly.
The quality of their fish is really good!

I ordered the rainbow roll. I think there is a trend (to save time) of prepping, earlier in the day, the seaweed/ crab center which is the main part of many rolls. The result is the seaweed has a rubbery/leathery texture vs. being a nice light layer. I found this to be the case here so it wouldn't be my first choice for sushi.

Pretty obviously, Kirkland's best. I try to shop local (very local). Salmon sashimi are my favorite go-to on protein-only-days; they're spectacular. Toro - a close second. There were also some Seattle rolls and a bento box for the table - all devoured in a hurry, no leftovers whatsoever. All in all a wonderful experience.
