BBQ Pete's

I’ve been on the hunt for good BBQ in Washington for a LONG time… My search was finally successful today when I discovered BBQ Pete’s in Lakewood Towncenter.

The trifecta of scrumptulessence was in full effect; 1. Cleanliness and attention to detail, 2. Amazing customer service, & 3. (Most importantly) High quality food. From the moment you walk in, your nostrils are greeted with the rich smells of BBQ, shortly after you’re greeted by pleasant team members that are actually happy to help you. The menu has the right amount of choices and the simplicity a place focused on BBQ should. The atmosphere is clean, spacious, and feels inviting.

After you order, you walk to your left and find an amazing assortment of accoutrements that continue to bolster the authentic BBQ experience. There is unlimited BBQ sauce (chose the spicy option for optimal flavor), fresh pickles & onions, and to my amazement real sweet tea as a beverage option (a true unicorn in WA State).

The brisket made me feel like I was in Texas, the BBQ beans reminded me of Grandma, and the Mac & Cheese pushed me over to edge to fully fledged food coma status. God bless BBQ Pete’s, may you ever bring joy to taste buds as you have mine.

P.S. They have free soft serve vanilla ice cream for desert! 🤯

Had a to go order and they tell me go to the side to add ketchup instead of them just grabbing ketchup from behind there counter to put ketchup in.... Very poor customer service....

I think this is hands down the best barbecue in the Tacoma area. The meat, especially the ribs are so tender and juicy, and the barbecue sauce cannot be skipped. After you are done you can get some free complimentary ice cream. Some of the food is a bit expensive, but worth it.

I’ve been trying to find decent BBQ in the area and decided to give this place a chance since it’s close to home. Unfortunately, the meal was extremely disappointing. The ribs were dry, tough, and barely had any sauce. The mac and cheese was almost inedible, just plain noodles with hardly ANY cheese. The corn muffin was burnt, dry, and crumbling apart. The only thing I enjoyed was the complimentary ice cream cup. I’m not sure if this was just an off day, but I won’t be ordering from here again. I feel like I wasted $46.

Been here a few times. Complimentary soft serve is a nice touch :) The food is good, the meat is tender but not super Smokey and flavorful, but the sauces help with that. Good serving sizes and the sides are delicious! The loaded potato salad, chipotle coleslaw, cornbread and mac n cheese are all really good. It’s not the best bbq I’ve ever had, as far as meat goes, but it’s a solid option for Washington state!

I've been twice because I wanted to see if there was any consistency. However, I did get it to go. Service was quick and attentive. The flavor and service were consistent.
I had the half slab of ribs, bbq baked beans and cornbread.
I'm a bit of a ribs snob. I compare ribs to my ribs😁. I prefer ribs that don't rely only on the sauce for flavor. I thought, both times that the meat lacked a little salt. Other than that they were pretty good. Better than famous Dave's, I thought. I'll try the brisket next time and maybe I'll eat in.

Fantastic BBQ, better than the Fair on some days. Spendy but the product is quality. Store atmosphere is family friendly with big tables to accommodate everyone. Complimentary ice cream.
