About Passage

Passage is a restaurant that offers an exceptional dining experience. The best meal in Washington for over 16 years, the care with which the team combined surprising flavors, incorporated local items, paired the meal with interesting wines, and showed attentive service was exceptional. Guests have been genuinely taken aback by how good a flavor or texture was, especially the pork, scallop, and apple granita. The tasting menu is particularly enjoyable for those who like seafood, rich earthy flavors, and decadent bread & butter.

The landscaping outside is extraordinary and the inside is thoughtfully put together. The food was mostly excellent. The raw scallop with apple ponzu sauce was so so good. The catch of the day in the marigold foam made one happy, and the lamb saddle finale could be eaten for the rest of my life. The room is warm and inviting, service was attentive and the food was just the right amount. 6 courses, primarily local seafood - subtle yet elegant flavors. Wine as well as a non alcoholic pairing were both fantastic. Price was very reasonable for the caliber of restaurant that Passage is.

The meal was great. The direction the food is taking is clear and lovely, bringing an east coast sensibility to the PNW flavors. For only being open a couple months it was really top notch. Wine service was full tilt. It’s a special occasion restaurant, for sure, and it felt like one. Service was human and thoughtful. Every dish was very grounded in local agriculture and the plating was artistic. The chefs were super friendly and did a great job explaining all of the components that went into each dish.

The absolute best part of it all was the pairing. The hosts were excellent and really used the pairings to elevate each dish while telling a unique story. They made everything feel very approachable and were happy to answer any questions. Low key fine dining; a perfect way to experience an exceptional meal without the pretension. Delicious local seafood flavors. The staff was friendly, attentive and watchful which kept a meal at a nice pace. Each course was described and served nicely. The chef served a few of the courses personally. The rice crab dish and squab dish were filling so we felt satisfied, not to mention the delicious Little Red Hen sourdough with honey butter. Recommend to foodies.

If you’re reading reviews and on the fence about going, just stop and make a reservation now. The is the best meal I’ve had in Washington (16+ years). I moved away from DC in 2017 and never got a chance to go to Reverie, so when I saw an acclaimed chef from my old stomping grounds was moving here I knew I had to get to the restaurant. And overall, I'm very glad that I did.

The landscaping outside of the restaurant is extraordinary and the inside of the restaurant was also very thoughtfully put together. I didn't get the wine pairing, but the table next to me did and I got to hear enough to know that Marcie is an absolute...read full review
We had a stellar experience here last night. The room is warm and inviting, service was attentive and the food was just the right amount. 6 courses, primarily local seafood - subtle yet elegant flavors. We opted for a wine as well as a non alcoholic pairing and both were fantastic. Price was very reasonable for the caliber of restaurant that Passage is. Chef Johnny and sommelier Marcy were so friendly, it almost felt like coming to someone’s home for dinner.
