Great food! Must try the texas style BBQ! Insanely friendly and helpful owners.
Brisket sliders were amazing, great battered fries, and kids loved the chicken strips.

Home made food that is good. Higher price but to be expected for being over the hill and through the woods.

This place embodies and pays homage to the settlers who first came to Plain. But the staff doesn't respect those people based on their ideologies.

We came in for breakfast. Got our food and the food was wonderful. Probably top 3 I've ever had for breakfast. My son asked for us to move there because the food was so good.

Then I overheard the staff talking politics and discussing gun laws in other states which were completely false as to how the law actually reads. I looked at my wife who gave me the dagger eyes of you better not say anything to these people as she knew I wanted to correct the staff on how the law really reads.

We are all free to our opinion and free to say what we want, but its best done not in the ear shot of customers.

Used to stop here every morning for a mornin’ sandwich on a fresh biscuit with an extra sausage. The biscuits are amazing. Service is great, food is great and you can always get fishing updates from the staff while you wait. Can get busy summer afternoons with tourists and campers.

just not that great, the service didn't really care about what they were doing (they were extremely kind however) the food was fine, nothing to scream about but it got the job done. what i didn't like was the paper plates and plastic cutlery. so yeah just not awesome.

I'm from Texas. These owners tout their history as being Texans. I ordered the chicken fried steak. Expecting a steak similar at least to what I use to getting in Texas. However, no such luck. While everything tasted good (except the gravy) I was disappointed in the chicken fried steak. The other thing I wanted was grits and the lady taking our orders stated to me that there were no grits ever. Even though I saw them on the menu on your web site. I live in Wenatchee and an hour is quite a drive for a breakfast I can easily get in Wenatchee and it will be served on a plate with silverware instead of a paper plate with plastic silverware.

Wonderful little spot for breakfast! The staff are exceptionally friendly and each of the breakfasts we ordered were top notch. Great coffee and a fine selection of baked goods also! Highly recommended.

Quiet, cozy space with lots of history to read while you wait for your meal to come out. The food comes out pretty fast. There are plenty of deserts to try out too! Including the largest cinnamon rolls ever 😁

There are no words for how awesome this little spot in the mountains is. The entire staff made me feel so welcome when our RV broke down and I needed a place to work remotely. From their wifi, to a power strip specifically for people to plug in computers and letting me stay as long as I needed to, the entire experience was was amazing in every way and only enhanced by how incredible the food is.

Matt & Kim are the epitome of people who should own a restaurant. From the (finally!) authentic and amazing BBQ, full breakfast plates, delicious coffee and GORGEOUS fresh pastries, the Old Mill has it all. Every morning at 6:30 I was greeted by Ashley and Hannalei with big bright smiles and nothing but hospitality to make me feel like family. Fun and lively conversation to get the day started right, this family really goes far beyond standard customer service in every way.

We were in Plain for a total of 2 weeks and in that time I got to know the area and this little gem in the middle. We are crossing the country but if I was to ever get “stuck” somewhere, I think Plain and the Old Mill Cafe would be the spot. It was genuinely bittersweet to pull out of that parking lot and wish my new friends farewell. I have never felt so comfortable in an establishment so quickly and again, considering the food is out of this world, it was by far and away the best place to spend my workday.

The BBQ slider is a great little meal, delicious slaw, crispy onions, that perfect slow cook on the meat, and their homemade “chips”, an absolute MUST. The chicken fingers also had a great crispy coating without being greasy or heavy. Try it all, you will not be disappointed!!

If you’re going to the Leavenworth area, make the detour to the Old Mill Cafe and stop in for a bite and a smile. It is a beautiful drive from Leavenworth to Plain and well worth the trip to see what that little town has to offer. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, the Old Mill has something for everyone. A must try, a must go, a must for anyone who loves amazing BBQ and looks for these hidden spots. This is one you won’t forget!

Thank you for everything Old Mill crew, we’re headed east and miss you and your food already!

So glad I stopped. Decorated so cute and the joke wall was so corny and fun. The slider with vegetable slaw, messy but delicious. But the winner was the homemade chips. Will definitely be back, hopefully before noon on a Saturday to attend the farmers market, too.
