Best restaurant in Long Beach! The bao is delicious!

As a Taiwanese, I can attest this food is super authentic and delicious! We stumbled upon this gem on a recent trip to Long Beach and are so glad we did. We had to come twice! The owner is so sweet and welcoming and it’s literally like going to an aunties’ house for a homemade meal. They also have vegetarian/vegan options and gluten-free sticky buns. Their soup dumplings and soups are also super tasty! If we lived closer, I’d probably come here every week, but sadly, we’ll have to just get our fix when we are back in town.

I tried the noodle soup and it reminded me of Taiwan right away. Rhoda is exceptional and a wonderful host. Wow! Can't wait to try it again.

delicious food, wide variety of bao including gluten free ‘sticky rice bao’! menu is well marked for gluten free, owner also offered gluten free sauces. honorable mention to the (also GF) beef soup, extremely satiating on a fall day. hope to be back any time i’m in the area!!

The food? SO YUMMY! I got the boa buns and they were so warm and savory! But they have many other options as well! Absolutely delicious! Would highly recommend stopping by!

My family and I were passing through the Long Beach area when we discovered this restaurant, and being from Taiwan ourselves we were ecstatic to give it try, and let’s just say they did not disappoint. As soon as we walked in all the staff greeted us with big smiles and made the environment very warm and friendly. We started chatting with the owner and bonded over our shared experiences from living in Taiwan. Just from our little conversation I can say she is a wonderful lady who takes pride in working hard to ensure everything is prepared perfectly in a traditional Taiwanese way. We ordered the beef bao along with some beef noodle soup and we were pleasantly surprised, the awesome flavor instantly reminded me of what it was like being back in Taiwan. It was an incredible experience in every way. If you would like to support a family owned business and try some authentic Taiwanese cuisine, I implore you to give Formosa Bao a try and you won’t be disappointed!

We ended up coming here twice while we were on holiday. Gluten dairy free bao?? Are you kidding me!? My spouse who doesn’t have allergies even stated the gf version was delicious and ordered a gluten free one the next time. A slight sticky rice taste to them that makes them a little sweeter. The ginger soup was also so perfect for a misty afternoon lunch. Not a lot of inside seating but plenty of seating outside and ample parking

The food was so good. Bao is my favorite food and this topped it off. Very satisfying and the staff were very friendly. We got the veggie bao, sweet potato bao, red bean bao , curry bao and a tofu skewer. I will be stopping by almost if not every time I come down to long beach. Thanks for a yummy meal ! 🏖😎☺️
