I adore Ursa Minor. I have been twice and I will continue to make it my go to annual fall break Saturday dinner!

This is such a beautiful little restaurant on Lopez. Feels special, while also feeling comfortable. Not at all pretentious but the creative food and cocktails could feel like that, but the end result isn't that at all. Just lovely, thoughtfully created and presented food. We loved every bite and the whole experience was just amazing.

What else is there to say besides WOW! We came with a group of 12 for my boyfriends 30th birthday and there whole experience, from start to finish, was nothing short of amazing. The service was outstanding, the food was divine, and the wine/cocktails were perfection. They made such an effort to make it special and none of it went unnoticed! We can’t wait to return.
Fantastic experience. Both delicate and bold flavors. The Seaplane cocktail was one of the best cocktails I’ve had. Excellent service (thanks Molly).

Nestled in the heart of Lopez Village, this small yet charming restaurant offers a great dining experience that stands out for its excellent local food, top-notch service, and inviting atmosphere. Clean, modern decor with a touch of homey warmth. Id say it’s the best restaurant in the San Juans and one of the best in Washington.
The menu showcases a variety of dishes that highlight the local produce and ingredients. Perfectly cooked salmon, fresh vegetables, amazing and unique flavors and preparations
Service here is impeccable. The staff is welcoming, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about the food. Raven was our main server, and they were all of that and just really nice. But all the staff were great as well.
Many reasons to visit Lopez, but I’d come here just to eat at Ursa Minor

We sat at the chef’s table and had the prix fixe menu plus cocktails and several bottles of wine. Everything was tasty and very reasonable.

Treat yourself to an experience at Ursa Minor. The setting, ambiance, food, drinks, and staff are all best in class. We're so pleased we made reservations for a special dinner here during our bike ride around beautiful Lopez Island. We took the ferry from Orcas Island and finishing the perfect day with this special meal was truly memorable.

This place deserves more appreciation! Such a beautiful gem on a small island. The food we had here was so much better than most restaurants we’ve been to in Seattle!
Very thoughtfully put together dishes, seasonable, fresh, and well balanced. Not an expansive menu but that makes decision making easier. Also the high quality is guaranteed.
It’s a husband and wife restaurant - we heard the husband is the chef and wife manages the restaurant. Guess you call that “family restaurant” but it’s a more urban, farm style setting than traditional family restaurants.
We had both of the appetizers on the menu: local Barn Owl bread with homemade butter (so delicious) and the shishito peppers in cream (very summery and refreshing).
We ordered 3 shareable plates for 2 of us and were so stuffed we couldn’t order their famous dessert. Our favorite was the beef in the picture. The steak were well seasoned and cooked perfectly for medium rare. They were placed on top of cucumber salad seasoned in yogurt sauce, again refreshing. The other plates were Grilled Snap Peas and Gnocchi. Their Gnocchi was recommended by the host of our cabin, and it didn’t disappoint!
The bartender deserves special recognition! She was so patient and creates beautiful cocktails. We loved the wine and Amaro flight she poured as well.
Such a beautiful place to enjoy dinner. Don’t forget to plan ahead with a reservation if you want to try their food!
This is one of the best restaurants in the Pacific NW. The restaurant uses local ingredients and blends them in creative ways with a visual appeal. The owners have put in a lot of thought into the decor, furniture, glassware and tableware to elevate the dining experience and yes, all elements blend really well together. And the service is top notch. We had Raven as our waitress who gave us very good recommendations on not just food but also helped us with wine pairings. She made our experience at Ursa Minor notching short of delightful! Highly recommend this place!

From the get go the waitress was extremely pushy that we order EVERY single dish in the menu (for a party of four slender adults) which in spite of being on the small side would have been way too much food for us. We wanted to order more dishes throughout the night, based on how much we liked each dish and how hungry we felt. She again was pushy suggesting we order it all at once as the kitchen would be making last call soon and food preparation would take a while and we could end up waiting a fair amount of time for additional dishes (her words, not mine) The irony is that we originally had a reservation for 8:00 pm but arrived at 6:45 as they were able to sit us earlier on our request, so there was plenty of time for the kitchen to prepare more food. After we ordered “only” 5 dishes, she managed to make snarky remarks every time she came to our table. We had planned on getting dessert, but based on the service and how uncomfortable they made us feel we decided to skip it.The disinterest was palpable once the waitress accepted the fact that we were not gonna follow her direction. They stopped refilling our water glasses once they realized that our table wasn’t gonna be the most profitable one that evening. The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy, and most of the wait staff spent a considerable amount of time polishing the glasses and chit chatting, so being busy or understaffed was not the case.My issue is not the mandatory minimum 20% tip, the problem is that the servers were condescending and the food was just average. Paying 20% to be mistreated is not really what I had envisioned. I also dislike the lack of transparency given the number of chances the restaurant had to make this fee evident. Especially when so much effort is made by them to make other things obvious like how much time you are allotted per table based on the size of your party, how much advance notice you need to cancel before your reservation deposit is no longer reimbursable, etc. They also reach out to you twice via email to ask if you have any dietary restrictions or if you’ll be celebrating a special occasion (which I marked as yes, but I’m not sure what they do with that information as no one asked or did anything to make our special occasion memorable, so why even bother asking?)Someone who was allegedly the manager told us the mandatory fee is made obvious “everywhere” on their website as well as when making online reservations. None of that is true as it’s only visible if you click to view their online menu and look at the fine print. So even the manager managed to make a bad experience worse by blatantly lying to my face. We left a 15% tip which they certainly did not earn.Food was overpriced considering the flavors and ingredients were pretty underwhelming and nothing about the dishes was particularly special. The food was ok but overall unremarkable
