Hard Row to Hoe is such a fun and memorable stop in Lake Chelan. The tasting room has a lighthearted, cheeky vibe, but the wines themselves are seriously good. I loved the Shameless Hussy Rose on a hot summer afternoon, and the Burning Desire Cabernet Franc is elegant with just the right amount of spice.
What really sets this place apart is the story and the values behind it. It’s a family-run, organic vineyard that farms with a focus on sustainability and is even certified Salmon-Safe, which matters a lot in this region. You can feel good about the wine in your glass, knowing the vineyard practices are protecting the lake and the surrounding environment. And every tasting room associate knows “the story”, which you have to ask for on your first visit.
Between the beautiful views, the playful branding, and the genuine warmth of the people who run it, Hard Row to Hoe is a winery I’d happily recommend to anyone visiting Lake Chelan or Manson.
On Friday 7/18 my friends and I visited Hard Row to Hoe for my friend’s bachelorette party. The wine was great, however the service was very poor and the bride left extremely offended by the tasting room associate and the rest of us girls in shock. When the tasting room associate was asking about the wedding and was told it was on Vashon Island and was fairy woodland princess vibes, he stated “who let her choose that?” and then “there’s still time to change it.” He appeared to be making a joke, however it did not land well and left the bride feeling insulted. He also did not go over the wines, instead just stating the title of the wine. When asked about the story of the tasting room, he gave the story so fast, that none of us really understood by the end. We did not catch the tasting room associate’s name however he was wearing pit vipers.
Delicious wines and absolutely the best company in the Chelan AVA. This small, family run vineyard should be top of your list when visiting the Lake Chelan area. Lots of fun for kids and dogs too. We loved the new shaded area for our kids to run around and play in. Their fun themes - Nauti Buoy, Shameless Hussy, etc. add to their uniqueness. Don't forget to ask about the origin story of their label! Don't forget the Port shots in a yummy chocolate cup. Cheers.
Beautiful atmosphere and they have a nice offering of wines and beers for those that tag along, lol. Check out their wallpaper!
Such an incredible winery, Jasmine was very nice and answered all our questions while providing the best service, the atmosphere is so much fun and the wine is AMAZING. Highly recommend!
Delightful little winery up on the hill in Manson. Very personalized wine tasting withup a fun story on how they came up with the name and wine names. I highly recommend visiting.
A small cute winery. Had good wine with great scenery and service. The prices were fair especially if you bought a bottle or two of wine to go after a tasting
Lovely setting and great wines!
Thank you Judy, Jasmin and Don for your great hospitality. Great vines, very nice place for tasting them.
Unfortunately the vines are not being exported. So we have to come back.
Amazing views and lovely reds. One cannot ask for more. A romantic, lovely, and quiet setting/ambience for an evening to unwind. Do think of coming here for next good and clean red.

Really good wine, awesome back story to the winery and Jasmine killed it serving our group of 12 people that showed up without reservations. Range a trip to the restrooms and look at the wallpaper.
Great experience. Best options--Reds...skip roses [just my opinion]
Had a wonderful Viognier though a bit pricey for a white wine.
Awesome wine manager and intro to their history and wines.
I think this is my favorite winery in this area. It is small, but it has a cozy and very nice "home" feeling.
The bartender/server will come to greet you and talk about the wines and stories of the place.
The wine we had in the tasting room was very tasty, not spicy or smoky but very smooth. We loved it a lot and ended up buying a couple of bottles.
It is also pet friendly. My pups got a lot of pets and love from the guests there.
Will definitely visit again when we visit Lake Chelan area next time.
Jasmine was an excellent server and gave us great recommendations to other tasting rooms to visit in the area. The Sandstone Chardonnay was really good along with a few of their reds. Would recommend again!
