My wife and I spent three nights in Manson last weekend to celebrate our 45th anniversary. As we visited several wineries that weekend we would ask where we should go for our anniversary dinner. The advice was consistent. If we want to dine in Manson, then have dinner at the “Wapato Point Cellars & The Winemakers Grill”. We were told that this is the special place to go for special occasions. We were looking forward to that dinner.
We were seated at 5:30 Sunday evening and were somewhat surprised that there were no “white tablecloths”. We had been told it was that kind of place. No big deal. The place was not busy, and our drink and dinner orders were quickly taken.
We each got the wedge salad ($3 up-sell) and were very happy with that. I ordered the 14-ounce Rib Eye steak ($60), a favorite that we grill for special occasions at home. My wife got the Herb Crusted Halibut ($45). We both ordered the loaded baked potato ($5 up-sell) and it was very good.
We were both so terribly disappointed with our dinners. The halibut was overcooked (tough, dry) and there was no “crust”. It was bathed in some sort of oily sauce that did nothing to improve the halibut. Halibut can be really good if crusted with parmesan or panko breadcrumbs. But to smother it in oil, perhaps to cover the fact it was overcooked, ruined it. She ate half and left the rest. Without complaint.
My steak that I had looked forward to all day was terrible. There is no other word for what I was served. It had not been trimmed at all and was very fatty. I love a well marbled rib eye and can eat a proper rib eye without leaving a trace on my plate. With this steak (maybe not a ribeye ??) I left probably a ¼ of it on the plate as fat and gristle. There was connecting tissue in the steak that defied cutting! Four tries with the steak knife to get thru it. Flavor-wise I give it a C, just average.
I do not remember our server coming around to check on us until we were done. He took my wife’s plate without asking if she was happy with the meal. Apparently, he did not notice that she had left ½ of halibut on her plate (the baked potato was gone). That is unforgivable at a restaurant that wants to charge these kinds of prices.
I told him the steak was terrible. I don’t know if he asked why but I told him. I think I asked if maybe it was a select grade (or less) sirloin because it could not have been a choice or prime steak of any kind. He promised to “make it right” and left. He came back with a dessert menu. Are you kidding??? Still looking for another upsell?? No thanks.
When he brought the bill, he showed where it had been reduced by $13. I have no idea where that number came from. We paid the $137 bill and left. On the way out I made sure the front desk knew what I thought of their $60 steak. And told those coming in for dinner not to order the rib eye.
Note that the “older couple” sitting next to us and apparently frequent diners there, said get the chicken. It is always good. Wish we had known. Or maybe just get wedge salad and baked potato.

Nice place for a decent meal and interesting wine tastes. Service was very good, food was good, but the wine was the star here!

Came as a large group with reservations. Just the beginning of problems.
*Did not have our reservation, though it had been verified.
*Ongoing discussion with multiple people to address "reservations"
*Delay in getting group settled and chose to have us under a roofline next to outside back wall. [Why do I mention?] Hot than &%#@&. No misters, which 2 of us took ice water and napkins soaked in ice water wrapped around our necks.
* Mentioned by server that after dinner we could move to the lawn. [Suggestions$^&#@...we could have had tables placed out on lawn close to door going back to kitchen that servers use]
* Miserable HOT experience.
* Then the close out of bill...with cards vs cash...finally just wrote a check.
* Will not be back.

We came on a Saturday night with 7:15pm reservation. We waited at least 15 minutes for water and they were “out of” their charcuterie board which was really disappointing, it was only 7:15pm. There were no gluten free options for buns or crackers. No live/recorded music and no fans outside in the 90 degree heat.

The artichoke dip was covered in bread crumbs (??) and the fried potato patties were greasy and poorly fried. Salad absolutely drenched in dressing (delicious but way too much). My “Wagyu” burger was DRY and missing some ingredients listed on the menu.

It felt disorganized and kind of made the meal stressful.

It was really sad to see this decline happen here, hopefully they can turn it around and my family will return!

As a family we have been dining at Wapato Cellars for several years. We have noticed a decline in the quality of food and service in the past few years. We understand restaurants are struggling, but when you wait 25 minutes to get a glass of water, and your food is low quality with Seattle pricing, it’s not worth it!

Hi everyone, so my Daughterand I went for dinner, I ordered the fire Prawns and a spinach salad , I was underwhelmed the eggs in my salad Were cooked way too long they had a really thick gray ring around them witch ment they where cooked way to long, plus the Portions where so small. The prawns tasted great but they had the shells on so I had to use me hands to eat them I think if you are paying $18.00 for 4 prawns you shouldn't have to be covered in sause to eat them. The help was great they did a great job. When did they stop serving bread?

The service was okay. The food… not so great. The chicken piccata was actually terrible. A couple of capers on overcooked pieces of chicken with a sauce that was nothing like how a piccata sauce should taste. The halibut was good, but totally not worth the experience.

The ambience and service was wonderful, we arrived on a Saturday night with no reservations and were pleased that they were able to squeeze us in, small 2 person table but it was at the window overlooking the patio which was perfect (not just an afterthought table like many restaurants do). Our server was friendly, prompt and attentive. The Caesar salad was delicious as was the clam chowder. I wish I could say the meals were excellent but they fell short. I had pork medallions with risotto and the only complaint is that it lacked flavor, it was just bland. I recommend they spice up the pork and add a more flavorful side to pair with it. My husband tried the cauliflower tortellini (requested no mushrooms but got some anyway). This dish was also bland in flavor and barely had any tortellini in ratio to the amount of sauce it was swimming in. My husband tried the Italian lemon cake for dessert and said that and his decaf coffee was delicious. Overall, we were thankful just saying it could be 5 stars with a little more thought toward flavor.

The food at Wapato Point Cellars is delicious - not to mention that the wine is absolutely amazing, too! Genevieve in the Wine Club Office is extremely helpful and attentive to detail. Thank you!

Ricardo was a spectacular server. He made us feel welcomed and continued to check in on us while we were the only ones sitting outside. The food and drinks were delicious!

Great food. Even better staff!
We have been here dozens of times.
Anyone who has a less-than-stellar experience here brought a bad attitude with them to the restaurant, because these folks do an outstanding job every day!

Always excellent food and, of course, wine. Enjoyed the view out the back lawn while rain cell and sun alternated. Took a 2017 Merlot home with me as well.

While on a weekend getaway, we had dinner at the Winemaker Grill- recommended by Robin from LCW. The food did not disappoint us. My chicken piccata was the best I ever had and I eat a lot of chicken piccata. My partner had the Herb Crusted Halibut and it was wonderful! In lieu of the potatoes, I got a tasty Caesar salad- the lemon made it pop with flavor. We both had broccolini that was seasoned to perfection. Don’t walk, run to Winemaker Grill. The visually impaired piano player was entertaining and engaging and music was appropriate and enjoyed by all. Thank you staff for taking great care of us. We will be back!
