I do not write reviews, especially negative ones as I don’t wish to hurt a business, however I feel compelled to write this as a warning to anyone considering eating here, and hopefully as an incentive for whoever is in charge to reevaluate their kitchen standards.

My partner and I were visiting MI for the day and chose this place because we enjoy old historic local spots. Based on the decent 4.4 overall rating I felt I had a reasonable expectation that this would be good quality pub food. We ordered the taco salad and the steak sandwich with a side Caesar salad. The taco bowl with the “spicy beef” was on par with low grade Taco Bell meat, if not worse, very bland, hardly any flavor, just mealy and clearly very low quality. I’m fairly sure the rest of the salad came out of a pre-mixed bag as well, considering it had shredded carrots that clearly weren’t fresh (and why were there carrots?). I’m further convinced by this judging by the Caesar salad which I would put money on the “homemade croutons” also being a product that they bought, as well as the dressing which was obviously something like Ken’s dressing from a bottle, both were very processed tasting and very unappealing. The steak sandwich, which I imagined was a cheesesteak until the server asked how I would like it done was mediocre at best, it was the best thing that was served and it was like decent quality cafeteria food. I also asked for it medium and it came out well done. I’m not trying to be hurtful, just blatantly honest. I’ve been a professional cook for 6 years and I would be ashamed to serve what we received today. My partner felt ill the rest of the day. I honestly hope this is taken seriously, I know when food is processed garbage bought from a distributor and what comes from a scratch kitchen and there’s clearly some dishonesty here. Our server was perfectly pleasant. I hope whoever has dropped the ball will pick it up again.

This has been a long time work lunch hotspot for us - great atmosphere, rotating beers on tap, decent food options. The servers and kitchen are hard workers and come through even on the busy days when the sun’s out. But there’s always room for improvement and it’s kind of inexcusable these days not to offer customer wifi, especially when you’re in a cell signal hole. Maybe they’re making a statement. All I know is we’d spend more money there if we could have an actual business lunch.

I grew up on Mercer island and have been going to the Roanoke for over 40 years. My father still lives there and on a recent visit decided to show my kids a little bit of Seattle History and stopped by for what usually was good pub grub. I do not usually review eating establishments unless above and beyond or egregiously bad. In his case the later. I expected to pay Mercer Island prices and that was indeed the case but I have had truck stop food in Kimball South Dakota that would out rate this meal by at least 3 stars. I had a "French Dip" that was some overcooked "roast beef on a hot dog bun and this is not hyperbole. My daughter had the "special" Fish and Chips and the fish had worms in it! I have worked in the NW seafood industry since 1980 and can tell you without a doubt there were worms in the fish. When brought to the attention of the waitress her response was "that is just how the meat looks". My Fathers "turkey club" looked like it was purchased from the day old bin at the local minimart Gas station. I know it sounds as though I am exaggerating but I assure you I am not. Still a great place to have a pint but it looks as though they have thrown in the towel on serving any semblance of edible food. Very sad as this was once a great place to stop by when I am in the neighborhood and really wanted to show my kids a good time.

cool atmosphere. Food was overpriced and not very good. Beer options were good, service was average.

brought a customer here and the lunch (nachos, sandwich, and 3 beers) was over $60. that seems high but idk!

Dmitry was our waiter and took great care of us. Gave recommendations for local places to visit and encouraged us to try the bartenders special shot. It was absolutely worth it. Get the baked potato! ?

The roe is one of those old school dive feeling places, rare to find, especially to find it on Mercer Island. Tucked away and pretty chill but it can get active sometimes. Great choice if that is the vibe you're looking for! S/O to Ollie!!
