just a heads up this place is closed Permanently not temporarily, didnt make time through covid.
Food was good and service very friendly! Worth a stop if looking for breakfast away from the usual chains off the i5 freeway away.
Nice little Hideaway. One might say it's a dive bar but the staff is very friendly and I've never had any trouble there it's just a nice out-of-the-way place to talk in while you're waiting for somebody or you just want to break where you're going I haven't had much food here I usually go to the bar she's very friendly and accommodating and very out of the way as just a nice place to talk in and take a moment to collect yourself
Have eaten here a number of times through the years and always had consistently good breakfast or lunch. I'm not sure what happened with our recent breakfast, but it was just sad from the start. Walking in from the back I immediately noticed how disgustingly dirty the carpeting was...that should have been my first clue. There were 5 of us, none of us newcomers to "The Cafe" and one was a regular. There were only two other tables (we were there after the breakfast rush/before lunch) so they were not busy. All our entrees were lukewarm--with the limited diners our food should have arrived hot without question. I've had the eggs benedict before and liked them, this time the hollandaise sauce is not even as good as what I make at home (from a package), the ham was different than I remember, it looked like it was cut off the end that would normally be a part you wouldn't eat. Pancakes were hard to eat, you needed a knife to cut them. Looking into my seatmates coffee cup it was lined with brown coffee residue/buildup as if it had not been washed for months. One would think the cup would either be properly scrubbed/cleaned or replaced. It was not even a matching "restaurant" mug that 4 of us had, hers was mismatched and from an outside establishment, I can't recall if it was a Skagit Valley Tulip Festival mug or from a casino, but it was not one of the restaurant mugs. It was weird. We were all so turned off from this meal that I can only say that I won't go back. It's too bad, it used to be a place for a reliable good meal.
Cozy place to eat, with friendly people.
It's a small business diner like from the old days so it has this welcoming feel to it when you first walk in. The service is amazing and the food is yummy
Over cook eggs, sausage and hash browns Burt and greesy
It may not look like much on the outside; however, this restaurant has been a staple in downtown Mount Vernon for over 50 years. The food is terrific, especially the burgers. Try it...you won't be disappointed!
Good food and service in old town Mount Vernon
The breakfast has gone way down hill. Didn't even eat it today it was so bad. Took 45 minutes to get our food and the bacon and sausage was so over cooked it was black. The pancake tasted as if the pan hadn't been cleaned in awhile and the eggs....I don't know how you make eggs taste bad. We will not be returning.

Good food, good prices. We stop in whenever we are in town. A favorite for years.
Enjoyed a fun breakfast with the girls. Great service, good hearty breakfast. We had rye toast, ham omelet, and hash browns. It was good.
I just love the😘😘😘😘 coffee ☕☕☕☕☕ and when I get to go out for breakfast I choose this place first.
Expensive for frozen sweet potato fries, no regular fries, with hamburger. No regular lettuce for salad. Owner is letting it go downhill. Could be a really cool place.😣
This is a great gem to find. Breakfast is pretty good. I ordered the country fried steak. It's excellent. And it's A HUGE ORDER.ðŸ˜
