Awesome biscuits and gravy. The whole menu seemed really high quality. The portions are big, service great and gift shop was cute
I have been going to Whistling Jacks for over 50 years. The old owners were friends of mine. This is the first time since the new owners took over. The new owners have upgraded the restaurant and outdoor area, it is very nice. My son (47 yrs old) and I (75 years old), had dinner there on Friday Aug 1st. 2025. The dinner was good, but the waiter was not. First I was shocked we got in without reservations on a Friday night, that probably wouldn’t have happened 10 years ago. The waiter came to our table and said “what do you wanna eat”? My son said we’d like to order drinks first and then the waiter said, in a condescending voice “show me your IDs”! I was speechless, we should have just got up and left, but didn’t. We showed our IDs, got our drinks, the waiter brought dinner, but never asked if we wanted another drink, desert or ? When we first arrived there were only 3 tables in the whole dining room with people at them, within 30 minutes we were the only ones left in the restaurant and it was 7:00 on a Friday night. Totally blew my mind. I hear the owners don’t live in the area, which may prove to be a big mistake.
Wouldn't let us move two tables together to accomodate 6 people.
Probably racist wait staff, walked into the bar, got a menu after 5 mins, 4 people came after me, the bartender pointed to each one as a new customer and skipped me. I sat there while everyone else was getting a drink and their order taken. Very embarrassing and humiliating. If you're a person of color, maybe skip this place and save yourself some self respect. Maybe an honest mistake but happens with 2 different wait staff so I doubt it
Rode out from Tacoma to have lunch. Sorry to have missed breakfast but lunch was great and service was friendly.
We drove 45 miles to eat lunch at whistling jacks on our anniversary. Arriving there everything seemed great staff was real polite. I order the Fish & Chips with my side being the salad $22 after waiting over an hour for our food I asked the waitress how much longer she told us there were 3 plates ahead of us so I asked her if I could at least have my salad and she said sure. She left to go get it and 10 or so minutes later showed with my salad. About 14 minutes later she showed up with our meal. Sat our meal on the table and walked off. Went to another table then started walking by us again and I said you forgot my fries she informed me I chose the salad as my side. I said no the menu says Fish and chips served with one side and she said that's not how we do things around here you only get one side. I said I'm just going by what your menu says and it's very misleading you need to make new menus if this is how your going to do business. After our conversation went no where she said well I can order you a side of fries I said no thank you. ( I'm not about to give this place any more of my money) I ate some of my food then got to go containers and we left. They need to Chang their menu to 3 pieces of ale battered fish comes with one side instead of fish and chips comes with 1 side. 90 miles round trip from our house not to get what we wanted. It will not happen again
Super nice staff! Clean cabin with amazing hot tub and prime location. Caught a fish just a short walk from the deck!
Stopped on our way over Chinook Pass for a late lunch. Staff were pleasant and welcoming. We shared the Bistro Steak Sandwich with a side of salad, and added second side salad. The sandwich was prepared to perfection and quite large enough to share. The salads were fresh and tasty.
Glad to see the work the new owners have put in to bring Whistlin Jack back to greatness again! Kudos to owners and staff! A great team!

Good Margarita service was wonderful.
Wowie! We stayed here over the weekend, and it was just what I needed after a long week. The staff were kind and attentive and the food was to die for! If you haven't had the rueben, you have to try it! The highlight of the trip was the cabin we stayed in. It came with a fantastic hot tub and a beautiful view of the river. Thanks again for the wonderful stay. We will be back!!
