My family and I came to the San Juan islands off the coast of Washington for the third leg of our trip this summer.
We spent 3 nights on Orcas island and decided to try Buck Bay Shellfish farm.
Simply put, I tried just about everything on their menu over the course of 2 lunches and 1 dinner.
The oysters? You won’t find any more fresh than here. The halibut fish and chips? If you hate fish, order these because you have to remind yourself you’re eating fish because it tastes like chicken.
The vibe at this place is like you are eating at your cousin’s house. You sense the love, the family and care in everything they do.
If you are staying in the San Juan islands in Washington and you don’t go here at least one time, you are missing out on one of the best meals you’ll have in your lifetime.

Dozen oyster appetizer, clam chowder & salmon kale salad. Everything tasted fresh, probably made more so by dining al fresco with a great view.
Get here early cuz it does get crowded & they can run out of the day's catch/special.

The oysters, according to the oyster eater in my group, we're out of this world! Not being an oyster eater myself, I had the brisket special. I guess it was like having a hamburger at a sushi restaurant. Very disappointing. But I would go back just to see the joy on my oyster eater partner! The service was fast, the atmosphere is great! The line is very slow when it's busy.

We had a wonderful late lunch here. We came upon it driving as we were staying nearby. The view was lovely. Very friendly staff and we even chatted up other patrons sitting close by. Definitely recommend if you are in the area. We had the crab plate and the bbq oysters. Strong cocktails, great beer and wine :)

Very casual dining by the bay - you order at the counter. My review will hopefully help anyone on a plant-based or vegetarian diet. Their salad looks like an appetizer at first glance but is full size; it’s nice and fresh. Fries are good and many people can’t resist ordering it. Their halibut chowder isn’t the usual thick kind but if you’ve cooked chowder at home you know it’s only one ingredient you’re kind of glad to skip.
Salad in photo was from today’s special. Restaurants on Orcas Island are limited so this place is as good as it gets!

Idyllic spot with a really broad menu from shellfish to bbq. The fried oysters were delicious, along with the fish taco trio - superb. Good alcohol selection between crafts beers and wine. Area for the kids to play. Brilliant place!
