We made a reservation for 9pm. It was confirmed. We walked in and we were sat down at 8:45pm. For the server to come over and tell us sorry the kitchen was closed and they couldn’t help us. I’ve never seen such a thing. Will never return. Don’t confirm a reservation, don’t sit people and then tell them the kitchen needs to close at 9pm. You make your kitchen staff stay 15 extra minutes to serve people you sat and made a reservation for! Awful service.
The filet, street scorn, tableside guac were all amazing! Jarod was fantastic. Sit at the bar for a quiet lovely evening.

2nd time being here so at this point I'm an experienced diner.
step 1) skip the weird gold steak thing. weird gimmick, I don't think their hearts are in it.
step 2) enjoy everything else on the menu. excellent steaks, fundido, guac, street corn, pibil, ceviche!
step 3) don't drink so much you can't make it home. which will be hard because their bar is well stocked and creatively presented.
it's a weird little secret in Olympia. do yourself a favor, go find it.

The food was pretty good, and our server was kind. However, I did not appreciate the automatic kitchen staff gratuity on my bill (please just pay your own staff), and I will find a different restaurant that serves free, refillable chips and salsa instead of $5 for a small portion of chips and salsa.
My wife and I had dinner here for Valentine’s Day. I booked the reservation a couple months in advance. We were seated right away in a booth. We started with chips & salsa. It came with three dipping sauces, small portion of refried beans, and we opted for a small portion of pico de gallo for $1 more. The main entrees were the filet mignon and carne asada. They were both delicious and flavorful! We saved enough room for dessert which was the flan. The chef added a nice touch by serving it on a wooden plank with “Happy Valentine’s Day” drawn from caramel syrup. The whole meal presentation was exceptional. Our server was great and checked on us periodically as well. We will definitely come back!

Five stars here doesn't mean "great Mexican restaurant", it means "best Mexican restaurant Olympia has ever had." I wouldn't really call it a Mexican restaurant, having been to a lot of very good restaurants throughout Mexico. The food is extremely good, though, but more S California than Mexico. I had a flaming shrimp dish and Rosie had a Patron beef dish, and both were delicious. The rest of the menu looked just as good, so we mostly went with our waiter's recommendation (great service, BTW). The drinks list looked interesting, but pricey, so I had a Negra Modelo draft which was also very good. We'll definitely be visiting this place again!
Parking: Street parking. Long experience says that in the evenings, you can almost always find free street parking within 2-3 blocks of here, mostly to the south.

Jazz music. Delicious food. Beyond amazing service. And no football! Walked in on a whim and it was the best choice all year. Let the photos speak for themselves.

Everything about this place was spectacular. The service was good, and the food was very tasteful, and the price paid for it was even better. Definitely will be returning. For all my people visiting out of California, this is about the same taste we get back home.

Service was horrible! Waitress didn’t check on us once for refills on water or drinks! Basically took order and brought check! We were the only one on the restaurant at this time.Food was eatable but honestly El Sarape’ has much better Mexican food in my opinion. And the restaurant was very cold Will not be going back

Amazing! The best Mexican restaurant I think I've ever been to. Some of the items are a little pricey (wagyu appetizer) but delicious none the less. We came right at opening and it was only us and then two others showed up shortly after but they have tons of seating. The queso was so delicious and there was so much of it we brought an entire bowl home. Will Def come back.
Parking: On a busy day you will have to walk, not a lot of street parking.
Kid-friendliness: Yes kids can come.

I was pleasantly surprised by the authenticity of the food. I had the chile relleno, which was good, and my husband has the fajitas, which were very tender and flavorable. The only thing I didn't care for was that the hotsauces weren't hot enough... but that's my preference.
Parking: Definitely will be back!
