Our server was so sweet and kind to us. She tried very hard to make things right for us and i appreciated that, but that wasn’t possible because the food was, and no exaggeration, the most disgusting thing that I’ve ever had that cost more than $20. Don't put sugar and syrup on a TURKEY PESTO sandwich. It was actually my first time at a restaurant that i wanted to spit out my food. The wait was about an hour and they were busy, which wouldn’t normally be a big deal. But, it compounds the issue that we were there nearly 2 hours and didn’t even eat. Also, the claim that the gluten free kitchen is “nearly indistinguishable” (i believe that’s the quote they used) from their gluten counterparts is a…. bold claim. No hate on the gluten free kitchen, i think that’s great, but don’t make that claim. It’s just not true.
Tldr;
Service good

This restaurant used to have amazing service and food. To our dismay, all of that has drastically changed. First, the building was in a major deep freeze. In the 40s this morning and the a/c was running full blast. Despite wearing a coat , I was trembling from the excessive cold. Felt like a polar bear was breathing down my neck. After several minutes of waiting, a waitress hurriedly walked over. Upon taking our order she refused to make any special requests, although we have dietary constraints which would have been alleviated through a simple alteration. The restaurant previously honored this simple requests, but we were TOLD in the most condescending tone a human voice could convey that management no longer offers exceptions. This inflexibility indicates to me that the food is not offered fresh, and that the restaurant is more concerned with herding in as many customers as possible in the shortest amount of time. Next time I need breakfast, I’ll meander down the aisles of Walmart for better service and a higher quality product.

Don't get the Monte Cristo. It was cold. My girlfriend enjoyed her classic breakfast.

Very limited menu choices and mild expensive. $25 for a cold monte Cristo on waffle buns. Not sure we will be back

We went here for breakfast on a Sunday. We checked in for two and were told 10-15 min ended up being closer to 45 min and the gal at the door clearly was having a rough morning. Initially she was polite, but after checking twice where we were on the list she was not as friendly, clearly stressed. I would highly recommend a reservation if you can. There’s no waiting room, so we had to wait outside. I didn’t see they accepted reservations prior to arriving.
Once we were seated, no issues. It was kind of a bummer because they didn’t have the jam for monte cristo, the chef made it with salt, verses sugar. The food was enjoyable, it was great that all food on the menu is GF. We need more restaurants like this! The decor and inside the restaurant were nice, the piano was nice. Overall pleased and enjoyed our experience. Next time, we will make a reservation 😀

Olympia is lucky to have The Leaning Maple. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. From the ambience and community centric atmosphere to the unique flavors from their menu, I was very satisfied with my recent visit for breakfast. The waffles they use on their sandwiches are incredible - crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside, not to mention gluten-free. They host super fun events and support local artists, even displaying their artwork and products without charging them. Kudos to the team at the Leaning Maple. Ya'll are doing it right! Will be back soon.

We decided to eat here on a recent Sunday morning around 10:00 a.m. The greeter must have been having a bad day because she could not force a smile on her face with us or others. She told us it was going to be 10 minute wait and it turned out to be 20 minutes even though our table sat open for quite a while. Our food finally arrived after waiting an hour. All of our meals were cold but we did not want to wait any longer for them to redo them. They did not have a microwave where they could warm them up. The service was spotty as we always had to ask for more coffee and water. Our server said he was going to give us a discount on our food due to the issues but the most he gave us was $7. That did not feel like a good discount for the quality that we received. In addition they charged us $2 for a tiny pitcher of half and half to go with the coffee and an extra $2 because one of us ordered oat milk in our latte. Our total bill was over $100 which felt like way too much. We may try this restaurant again but definitely not on a Sunday. We finally left 2 hours after we arrived. This was not really a pleasant experience. The only bright spot was a piano player providing background music.

As a family of celiacs, we are so grateful to have found The Leaning Maple! We bring our gluten-eating family here and they love it too. My favorite day to come is Friday for the 1/2 price mimosas and live piano. Waitperson Maddox gives great service and recognizes me every time. We easily pick up where we left off the last time. Visit the Leaning Maple and you'll find an Olympia gem.

I want to preface this review by saying the food here is genuinely amazing. Very good waffles, and the fact that they’re gluten free is just a huge bonus. The staff has always been so kind and good at their jobs, even on busy weekends.
However, I feel called to say how disappointed I am in the trivia nights, and how the entire night was used with generative AI. Trivia is fun, and would be just as fun without the AI portion. I feel extremely passionate about the use of generative AI and its role in replacing human artists, as well as the horrible environmental impact (that we don’t even fully know the repercussions of yet). I truly hope the Leaning Maple changes their practices in the future, as it leads me to believe the people in charge have questionable practices (and the responses to the AI criticism has also been extremely disappointing).
I truly hope to return to the Leaning Maple, without the use of harmful generative AI.
