Our first time here. Was recommended by a colleague. We'll be back! It was delicious!. We also took home a Dutch Apple Pie đŸ„§.

A local icon. I always try to stop in whenever I'm in the area or need a fun dessert option. I was looking for a pie, but they apparently don't do a lot of pies. There was limited selection in the desert case on the day that I was there. 3 of the 4 items I selected were a big hit, the other was just okay.
They also have baklava.

Terrible experience and disappointing food.
With Merconi’s right across the way, I expected at least a half decent sandwich—but I left disgusted. I ordered a grilled Reuben, and asked to double check the meat gets heated enough since I'm pregnant. I got an annoyed response. Instead of properly preparing it, they microwaved the entire sandwich—bread and all—then lightly grilled it just to add the marks? The bread turned tough and chewy, and to make matters worse, the “meat” was touching the dessert (a cold cake) inside the box meal.

Bad service, bad energy, bad food. I won’t be going back for anything. Ever especially th meal being almost $20.

Not sure where the “European” part is supposed to fit here
very limited selection of mostly non-“European” pastries
and a few normal looking cakes. Possibly years ago, it was stocked with proper items
. A “European” bakery in New York or New Jersey, or even Pittsburgh, has ten times the selection of actual “European” bakery items

I've had two Dutch apple pies from Wagner's Bakery in Olympia. These were roughly six months apart. Sadly they were both meh at best. đŸ€·I love Dutch apple pie and I've begged the person who gifted these pies to stop. The bakery may have lots of lovely offerings, just don't bother with their Dutch apple pie.

I came all the way from Bellevue last Sunday early in the morning excited to try some baked goods here, but unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing. The person who attempted to help us was shockingly rude and had a visible attitude the entire time. What made it worse was overhearing her talking negatively about other customers, clearly assuming we couldn’t hear her. It was unprofessional and made the whole visit uncomfortable. Definitely not the kind of welcome I expected after making the trip. A few of my friends came in separately afterward, hoping to grab some food and baked goods themselves, thinking maybe we just had bad luck. But unfortunately, they were met with the same person and treated with the same level of disrespect and outrageous rudeness. It’s really disappointing to see that kind of consistent behavior, especially from a place people go out of their way to visit.

We got to this place right at 11:03 and ordered two coffees. When we went to the other lady to order our breakfast the lady told us it was past 11:00. Ended up getting a cold cinnamon roll. The coffee was just okay and the cinnamon roll was okay but not good. This place was dead. They could have made us a breakfast sandwich their loss.

Sweets are deeeelicious. Food is very good but basic and a bit like cafeteria lunch style. Never can find a trash can inside, which is strange.

Amazing bread. Great fritters and the almond apple thing we got was very good too.

I had never been to this bakery, and unfortunately would not recommend it to anyone now that I’ve been. One particular staff member at this bakery was incredibly demeaning and rude and made what should have been an easy interaction incredibly uncomfortable. Would definitely recommend supporting other local businesses!

Would've been better off with a safeway cake. Could've saved around $25, too..

When ordering custom baked goods, be sure to print out or have the staff member taking the order write it down formally with a date and signature! We were shown the largest cake size in person (see photo with hand for scale) and quoted $62 each. Ok, great. We put in an order for two of that size.

When we arrived for pick up, they were much larger than what we were shown in person and rung up at twice the cost ($125 ea). The cakes were for my father's memorial. I paid a total of $308 for two 1/2 sheet cakes which were way more than what we needed. We took an untouched cake home. Decorating charges were separate at $15.75.

When we told staff there had been a miscommunication, they said they would talk to the manager and staff member who took our order but did nothing to correct the mistake. They did not offer us a discount for their mistake. I understand that the cost and time of making bigger cakes means a higher price point, but to expect your client to pay more than double what they budgeted for with no offer to help us is a bit ridiculous, especially during a less than fortunate time in our lives. The cake tasted okay - the frosting may be sweeter than most people are used to.

I would encourage Wagner's staff to train newer or younger staff members to be EXPLICITLY CLEAR on what they offer and what the price is because we were a bit blown away by the misquoted proportion of cake and price for what we received.
