Great little shop with a high quality coffee machine and Oatly Oat Milk. The mocha was not too sweet, I’ll come back on the next Port Angeles stop!

I hadn’t been to Great Northern in a while so I decided to go there on my lunch break. Big mistake. The girl took my order and said, “We’ll have that right out!”. I ordered a Bennigan and that was all. I was sitting there waiting for about 15 minutes before both employees on shift disappeared to the back, the sandwich that the guy put into the oven before they disappeared was finished so it was beeping for almost one minute while they were back there so the girl had to run out and take it out. I wouldn’t be surprised if that customer’s order was overdone or burnt. I was already irritated but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and literally assumed they were making the pretzel bun in the back because that’s how long they were taking and they’re apparently made from scratch. I’d had enough of waiting at this point for what is essentially just a ham and cheese sandwich on a roll so I walked to the register and waited for one of them to come out so I could get an update on my order since it had now been about 20+ minutes since I ordered and there was only two other customers there. The guy walks out slower than a turtle literally dragging his feet and sees me waiting and looked like he had an epiphany, remembered he was at work, and dashed over to the counter and started doing something on the counter that I couldn’t really see (finally doing his job I assumed.) I asked, “is the Bennigan almost ready?” and he goes, “The what?” and I said “The Bennigan.” And he goes, “Oh. We don’t have any ham. We’re slicing some right now.” No apology or anything. I asked how long it would be because I had less than 10 minutes left on my lunch break and I had to walk back to work. He shrugged with the most blank stare and said “Probably 5 minutes. Do you just want a refund?” and I said yes. Instead of coming to the register to give me a refund, he proceeded to slowly bag 2-3 items of food that were sitting on the counter for who knows how long. After that, he announced the orders to the two customers sitting in there, one who ordered AFTER me?? He finally dragged his feet and walked to the register to give me my refund. The guy that was already there before me had just received his food before I got a refund so I can’t even imagine how long he must have waited? Also, he got a burrito and there’s no ham in the burrito so why did his take so long? I’m sorry, but were you even present at all? The girl working with him was friendly and got everyone’s drink orders complete in less than 5 minutes while he was doing who even knows what in the back but wish she would’ve at least taken initiative to apologize for the wait or give some kind of update. I’m unfortunately not too surprised because this place is not a very welcoming place customer service wise which is part of the reason I never go. I’m so tired of the horrible customer service around here, it’s exhausting. I will say the décor is very nice and they have a cool menu. That’s about it. I don’t want to blast his name on here but he is kind of tall with brown hair, blue-ish, green eyes (?), and was working around 11am on 3/14/24. He should really step it up or get a new job that requires zero interpersonal skills, productivity, or effort. He disappeared at least 3 times while I was there for a considerable amount of time each time. He moved insanely slow. He looked like he was so miserable and didn’t want to be there the entire time and didn’t smile at all. He made it feel like his job was a major inconvenience to him and he looked totally lifeless. I know we all have bad days but come on. Also, why does the free water taste like poison? Has nobody that works there tasted it? Last time I went there I grabbed a glass right as I was about to leave and I literally had to spit it out, it was horrible. Thanks for wasting my lunch break and making it so I had nothing to eat to get me through my shift and doing nothing to make up for it. You guys rock.

The baristas were kind and helpful, the array of food was nice, and the decor is fun. The mocha was sickly sweet, it tasted like someone blended lucky charms and stored it next to chocolate.

I don't know what happened to this place, but it changed for the worst. Hot coffee was old and cold, caddy service single creamers were old hotel variety and questionable quality, sandwich wasn't prepared right. Even the free water seemed off. When I mentioned the coffee wasn't warm, I was told it was going to take 10 minutes for fresh coffee to brew. How is it that a coffee shop doesn't have fresh made coffee ready in the morning? Why serve coffee that isn't good or at temperature of the order? Ya had one job and blew it. ?

Great vibe & decor but the breakfasts we had were pretty disappointing. Breakfast burrito & bagel sandwich were made with frozen foods and you know how that is.Should of gone with a pastry instead, they looked pretty good.

Disappointing coffee and the guy who waited on us seemed reluctant to answer questions about what they had. Worse, we were surprised when we got home to find neither of the muffins we bought matched what he described to us.
