The Bayview is consistently underrated in my opinion. It's just an old fashioned restaurant with pretty standard fare. As for service, I've sat at the counter recently and watched the staff at work, and I can say they appear dedicated and capable. Several things I like: their chicken fried steak, the Ruben, and the breakfasts. Vegetables are only OK, but soups can be pretty good. NA beers are available. There are terrific views of the bay, which is just outside the window. Prices are fair, restrooms are tidy, and there's usually plenty of parking. And it's a low noise spot, thus good for conversations.
Wonderful service and excellent food! Got the special today. A dill-soaked fried chicken breast sandwich. Delicious. Also, love their fried oysters and fried fish. Light and crispy breading--not greasy (more panko style, less beer-battered/tempura style).
This place (namely Sean) prides itself on having primarily young female staff to attract perverted customers that would go there just to make a pass and has for years. Has allowed a pedophile to work here while harassing their underage coworker. Unhealthy environment.
We ordered breakfast, it arrived hot. Our food was good not over seasoned. You might even need to add some salt and pepper. We both eat for about $45 without the tip.
We had fish and chips and halibut and chips, GREAT marionberry pie for dessert. I walked across from Whidbey on the ferry and it was quick walk from the dock! Service was prompt even though they were busy.
Stopped here for lunch after reading others' excellent reviews. The spot lived up to it's reputation. We were seated immediately by a friendly man who turned out to be the owner's family! My husband and I enjoyed a piping hot bowl of delicious clam chowder and shared a yummy grilled salmon sandwich that was more than enough for two. We took some homemade pie to go since we couldn't resist! We love good old American diners like this that still serve people the real way!
Staying in Port Townsend for a mini trip my husband and I stopped here for dinner one night. The view is great. The service was wonderful. Very friendly and attentive. My husband had the chicken sandwich which looked good. I had the bbq burger which was tasty. It was great to see so many locals eating here too. You know a place is good when locals frequent it.
Fish and chips fave spot.

Great service! Seafood was okay. Rainy day so I bet it's better when the sun I'd out as far as atmosphere goes.

Nice staff average food. Clam chowder was too peppery and it had bacon in it.. I'm not a bacon lover.. coleslaw was too saucy.. view was beautiful though.. their sandwiches looked really good.

Eating here felt like home, this place was amazing and the staff was top notch. My toddler loved the waitress and the staff didn't make us feel bad for asking for 50/50 juice to tie him over. The cook ensured he got his meal first and our food was absolutely delicious.

I had fish and chips and clam chowder. the fish was excellent and the chowder was so good. Service was top notch. I recommend this restaurant
Had breakfast at the Bayview cafe Sunday March the ninth . Extremely slow service although the restaurant wasn’t even half full .had to get up to go across the restaurant to get ketchup we asked for and had to ask three times for orange juice . The food came ICE cold not room temp but cold . Being hungry and somewhat in a hurry I try to eat my food . It is the most inedible breakfast food I’ve ever tried . Eggs are rubber , so are the potatoes, did not try the toast . I could only eat couple bites of the eggs and two pieces of bacon . Then I found a big HAIR in the potato under the bacon . I paid and left . That was Sunday I am writing this on Wednesday I am STILL SICK WITH FOOD POISONING. Avoid this place
