What a wonderful discovery! Outstanding Mexican dishes were not the first thing that came to mind when visiting the seaside town of Port Townsend, WA in the great Northwest. But now they are! If you appreciate creative cuisine, made fresh, with top quality ingredients, you will love La Cocina too!

My wife, baby and mother in law enjoyed a wonderful meal at La Cocina. The chile rellenos were excellent, as was the carne asada, and the churros for dessert were unlike any churros I've ever had, in a good way. Everything is made fresh, with high quality ingredients, and so much care! The people here care about serving our community high quality, delicious food. The atmosphere is also pleasant-dim lighting and cozy. We're lucky to have this wonderful restaurant in PT!

While the food was good at La Cocina, and our server at the time was very friendly and helpful - this business does not have honest business practices.

When I received my bill, the prices seemed wildly high. When I called the restaurant to politely request that staff help me understand the pricing, I was told that the prices was due to very high-priced shot of tequila. I was told that the tequila was "top shelf" and that the bottles were "over $100 per bottle".

This is simply not true. The tequila (Espolon) is not a top-shelf tequila and is absolutely not $100 per bottle. The staffer was dishonest and La Concina business practices are dishonest and gouging customers.

When I calmly and simply stated that Espolon was, in fact, not $100 per bottle - I was then told that I was being rude and aggressive. Again, a dishonest claim.
When I reached out to business/ownership to discuss that I had not received accurate information from their staff - I was told that prices reflect overhead of the business, staff pay, etc. When asked why staff told me that Espolon was top shelf (and $100 per bottle) - my question was never answered.

All in all - just a note of caution when dining here!

Had a great lunch! We got chips and salsa, tortilla soup, fish tacos, and Al pastor tacos. All of them were great, staff were super friendly. A few people around us got items off their brunch menu and it looked incredible!

Quality ingredients treated with respect. Wouldn't expect less from a chef who worked in a three michelin star restaurant.

We had the best time here! Cocktails were 🔥 and our food was even better. Thanks for having vegan and gluten free options!

In a land of free chips and salsa, why pay $16 for chips, two salsas and guac?

All of the ingredients are organic, which is especially hard to come by for corn. The tortillas for the chips are made in house. The salsas are top notch. Compare this to the GMO corn and tomatos or lard filled beans of most other spots.

The cocktails, made with organic mixes, cost the same as the other spots in town. Why? The other dishes might be a couple more dollars expensive a plate, but again, when you consider the ingredients…

the quality ingredients shine through in the flavors and leave you feeling good after the meal. we are lucky to have a place which puts such care into their food in town

Best chicken tortillas soup I’ve ever had. A warm inviting atmosphere. Great service and they care about the quality of their food. Love this place.

Good food, great service. Obscene prices. $30 dollars for cheese enchiladas and the sauce was only on the ends. The white rice was super gummy and overcooked. The other rice was good. The queso fundido was $20 ($17 for the dip and $3 for chips) which I found ridiculous as it was not that exciting. The chili relleno was very tasty but not worth $32. Fish tacos were great. The carne asada plate was rare and bloody - I thought normally this was meant to be well done but I could be wrong. I really admire their ingredient choices and think it’s cool they grow their own corn. I feel that for this price, the ambience should be better (feels fast casual) and the food should be top notch.

This is the best Mexican food we've had since we moved to the Seattle area from Arizona! Incredible GF and vegan options, and the fish tacos and carne asada quesadillas were to die for. Our server Terra was so fun and hospitable and made our entire meal that much better. Def a must try in Port Townsend!

Did I dream about this food after consuming? Yes, yes I did. Too many good things to say. The agua Fresca was on point, the homemade tortillas and chips and rice were soooo good. Pork was very tender and flavorful. And the pumpkin tres leches literally warmed my bones through the cloves and cinnamon. Not to be missed.

The vegan burrito was plenty packed and very delicious. The tortilla was a bit thick but still yummy.

Drink was strong. More than enough meat in the tacos. Chips and salsa were yummy, but it was not complimentary. 1 person-$42
