We went for the history and the ghosts. Absolutely beautiful castle and the staff is amazing they went above and beyond. Most the other people staying went for the same reason we did ghosts. Well everything was going great and the fro t desk girl went home, we just started ghost hunting in the banquet room when the power went out , pitch black dark castle. So we went to our room and decided just to sleep. Unfortunately some unknown being spent hours banging on the walls so loud I didn’t get any sleep at all. Also what sounded like a static music box randomly started and stopped all night. Squeaky floors sounded like someone walked around our room also. Weird part only one other room heard the extreme loud bangs all night other nearby rooms did not. We did the Estes method and got a lot of talk about Kate and Charles, So weird . I will be back!

HAUNTED!!! My room heater turned on by itself and the front desk confirmed ! Stay for the experience not for the room!

Nice clean rooms with an authentic antiquated style. Nice and peaceful.
Just one warning. This place is not ADA friendly. There are steep steps to get to the front door. Ramp access only reaches past the first few steps.

Rooms were as good as "historical" allows. We stayed in a turret room. Graffiti in the books and drawers. Seat cushions were stained (I assume because it's original furniture) the bed was ok as far as hotel goes. The bathroom was the cleanest renovation of the room. But oops, the breakers for hot water tripped and weren't checked so we had no hot water. The fridge was cold atleased. Stay here for historical kicks only. Dont pay for the turret room. At $300 a night, you can find much better

A great place in my beloved

I have stayed here a couple of times now. I love it! It has so much charm. Staff is lean (might only be one on sight) but fabulous. See if you can snag one of the haunted rooms! Its kind of fun! I love this place and will be back. Say Hi Amberdawn at the front desk!
The restaurant is ok. It is separate from the hotel. Owner is a bit intimidating and comes off irate and crabby.

Holy crap avoid this place. Keg lines were dirty as heck, lots of "stuff" in my beer. Wife has hair in her guacamole, which was obviously grocery store crap guac. We paid and left without eating or finishing our drinks.
It’s been a while since my husband and I stayed at Manresa Castle, but we loved it. Staff were great and the room was beautiful.

Room was dilapidated, mold on shower curtain, electrical nightmare of tv wires and plugs, no handle on fridge, hanging bar for clothes was about 3 feet above the only table in the room. Rusted heater in bath, paint peeling off the tiny shelf in bath, masking tape on door cover, only a tiny window tilt out, so zero ventilation. No air conditioning. Disgusting. Tiny cheap picture was the only art on the largest wall. I have pictures of all of it but no way to post. This place isn't "quaint". It's miserable.

We stayed here one night. The outside was cute and the historic vibe inside was cool. The room was fine, had a good view of the sound. I totally agree with someone else’s review that McMenamins could revive this place beautifully. Two cons, the pillows, please give a soft and hard option on the beds! So painful. And the large frosted windows on the door let in tons of hallway light. The doors are pretty but it’s super easy to just add a shade. We had to jimmyrig a tshirt over the window. Also, I had no idea this place was haunted until after we left… haha woke up at 4am to the strongest smell of sulfur and feeling like I was being watched, so if you’re into ghosts the 3rd floor is your place! Overall it was alright!
Dark, dank hotel with the hardest beds ever. I’ve had backaches since I woke up this morning.
No breakfast, little amenities and three flights of stairs with one rickety old elevator that is barely able to be used.
I would never recommend d this place. I also never write reviews.

“Manresa Castle” was just okay. We were on the 3rd floor, The kids took the tower room, which had 2 beds, and we had a large bedroom with a king size bed and a large Jacuzzi bath. I liked the vintage building, but I didn't like that check-in time wasn't until 4pm. 2pm is best, 3pm just okay. 4pm is ridiculous.
The front desk lady was kind, but the cleaning staff couldn't even say “Hello”. I said “Hi” they just stared back at me. No smile.
Both rooms had an ocean view that would have been spectacular IF the windows weren't so utterly FILTHY. Seriously, call a window washer. My house is cleaner than this hotel I paid to stay at.
The room had a massive, junky looking air conditioner with a big hose that went to the window. “Better than nothing” is not what you expect when you pay to stay at a hotel, especially when you're paying for a vintage vibe.
Their restaurant was Mexican. Are you kidding me? If you're marketing your hotel as a vintage mansion, serve food more fitting to the environment. Foreign food can be amazing, but it something you eat when you “Feel” like it, that's why people say things like “I feel like Italian tonight. What about you?” “No, I feel like Vietnamese.” We already had Mexican, so we were forced to leave the hotel and find food elsewhere.
I wouldn't stay here again.
Rooms: Big, but not very clean.
Food and drinks: No choice but Mexican food.

As advertised this castle has reinvented itself several times over since it’s construction in the late 1800’s. The rooms and layout reflect its history. They have worked to keep much of the original designs. That said, the showers are cozy and the shower head streamed outside the shower creating a puddle on the floor. Our room overlooked the bay, which let a lot of nice light in.
Staff were friendly.

The wings and the jalapeño poppers were great.
