My partner and I stayed in Port Townsend for Valentine’s Day weekend and had a wonderful dinner at Nicko’s Grotto. Excellent service with a warm and inviting ambiance.

We had the Valentine’s Day special bruschetta appetizer which was excellent; the caramelized onions, crispy shallots, and fig jam was an amazing combo. But the piece de resistance was the night’s ravioli special. Simple ricotta and spinach ravioli, coated in the perfect amount of cream sauce — the best cream sauce we have ever had.

Highly recommend to anyone looking for an excellent, romantic dinner.

First, we walked in and they were shortstaffed, but they were kind enough to seat us without a reservation. Next Lindsey, who was unbelievable, said she would be able to take us even though they were short staffed. The food was amazing. Lindsay was even better. The gnocchi was to die for and my chicken Parmesan was crisp yet tangy. I can’t say enough about it.. I’d give more stars if I could!

The owner came out after we waited for our food for almost an hour and was nasty to us. We didn’t get to eat until almost 9 pm and the restaurant was mostly empty. They did not communicate about how long the food would take, nor offer us anything to eat while we waited. It was a miserable evening.

The restaurant was dirty , staff is extremely slow , food was cold , and owner was rude. Tried to engage with owner and staff multiple times and seems like only focus was money and what could they get out of a person. I had one meal no desert no beverage and I paid 60 dollars with the top. My meal was almost 40 dollars and I never got change for my tip. Worst place to have Italian cuisine. And I don’t support rude egotistical people

One of the best birthday meals I've had. Niko's is a wonderful Italian restaurant filled with ambiance, outstanding food and amazing service. We hope to add Niko's to our monthly rotation of outings.

OhmyGosh- this food was out of this world! I will be daydreaming about the New Zealand lamb and polenta for weeks to come. Excellent wine & cocktail selection- but this isn’t the place if you like mock
tails- they haven’t quite caught up with the NA crowd.

Wheelchair accessibility: This place is not accessible- it’s down a whole flight of stairs. Even if there’s an elevator somewhere, the interior of the restaurant would be hard to navigate, and the bathrooms have a narrow approach behind the staff galley.

Super disappointed. We were seated in a booth near the bar, Waited for 30 minutes. Nobody came to wait on us not even get our drink order. All three servers Look at us and saw us sitting there but no one came over. I kept turning around and looking to see if anyone would come and help us.They looked directly at us And just kept on going. After 30 minutes we just got up and left. The weird part is there were like four table in the regular area that weren't even filled with people But they said they had to set us at the bar. ..so it wasn't slammed or anything.

Delightful, old school, Italian resto. We got the crab cakes, the burratta, and the tiramisu. They all hit well in the group. Crab cakes are thick and the sauce was amazing. Don't miss them.

Parking: Busy neighborhood, free parking may be sparse

I wasn't a big believer in digital camo before this experience But after waiting for thirty plus minutes be acknowledged at all... I can safely say digital camo works... we walked in and out without ever being seen apparently 🙃

They have a nice gluten free pasta that they will put with most dishes. I had the saffron sea and it was delicious.

Only complaint is about the food, which is a lot. For being on average $30+ per entree, it was extremely disappointing that the food very much tasted like it just all sits together on a plate in the fridge until you order it.

Food was billowing steam when it got to the table and the bottom of the food felt like it was sitting on ice. Noodles were very overcooked and tasted like the water it was cooked in never touched a grain of salt. Tuscan Salmon was flavorless and also overcooked. It shredded instead of flaked. The sun dried tomatoes and parmesan on the noodles were the standouts that gave the dish any flavor.

We sat about 20-30 feet away from the kitchen which was very quiet for being a full restaurant. It sure sounded like a lot of microwave doors closing to us as well. If they are indeed using microwaves then the 30 minute wait for food seems excessive.

Also I somewhat felt bad for our waitress as she seemed to also be bartending and we weren't sitting in the bar. She did an excellent job service wise given that.
