Cafe Tenby’s high tea is absolutely amazing! The food is extremely good and the tea is even better. The waitstaff is very knowledgable and responsive. A wonderful experience overall.

I loved Pippa's Spice It Up Puerh tea and looked forward to traveling to Port Townsend to purchase a supply of this tea to last a good while until I could return once again. So I stocked up at Cafe Tenby, who assured me it was the exact same tea. It's not. Their tea tastes horrible and I cannot drink it, after spending more than I've ever spent on tea. I'm very disappointed.

Really a great tea shop that serves high tea on Saturdays with a reservation.
Been trying for a couple years to have high tea but I kept forgetting to make a reservation. Finally remembered and it was worth it. My partner and I both had the royal tea, high tea with Prosecco.

Been a long time since I've walked out of a place so contented. Coffee the way I like, superb Parmesan and leek pastry and a chill atmosphere. Well done.

This cafe has some very good and affordable food compared to other cafes in the area. We got the breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwich. Both had really great flavor combos and the hot sauce with the breakfast burrito really made it a great breakfast.

NEW and UPDATED review on June 22nd, 2024, we took one of our regular day trips to Port Townsend. We purchased some items from the farmers market there, went to Willabee Farms, and decided to have lunch at Port Townsend's little tea room, Cafe Tenby.
Our experiences at Cafe Tenby have always been delightful. The food quality is consistently good, and their plain scones are a true delight. However, the pricing was a bit unexpected.
For two sandwiches, which were smaller in size, along with two scones (included with about a tablespoon of jam and clotted cream) and we drank water, it was $44.00. The shock came when we realized they now charge for the clotted cream and the jam, making the price seem even more disproportionate to the portion size.
As much as I love their plain scones, it is hard to justify that amount of money.
Although cute but relatively plain, Cafe Tenby states it is a "modern" tea house. Either way, it has seen better days.
While I've always been able to overlook some of Cafe Tenby's shortcomings, such as cleanliness and table availability, it's hard to ignore that it doesn't quite capture the essence of a traditional tea house, at least not the ones I'm familiar with. Even those who claim to be a little more modern than old-fashioned tea houses or tea rooms. Cafe Tenby, in my opinion, falls just a little short.
The window area was a little dirty. Under our table, there were crumbs and dust. Also, every time we go there to eat, most tables are reserved; although they say you don't have to have reservations, there is rarely any place to choose from to sit.
My point is, if customers are paying the price we did for smaller sandwiches, then the establishment should consider some updates or at the very least, a thorough cleaning.
Next time we visit Cafe Tenby, it will be just for their scones!

As soon as I read their tea menu, I could see they had good taste. I changed my family’s morning plans to go there and we were rewarded greatly.
The pistachio lemon cake is one of the best things I’ve tried. Their banana cake was moist and flavorful. Every sandwich we got was made with a different kind of homemade bread and wowed us. We ended up getting more things to take home and try later.
But probably the best part was that they made me a decaf london fog, something I can rarely get. Very few places cater to people (like nursing moms) who don’t want to have caffeine but still want to enjoy a delicious drink in the morning.
Kid-friendliness: Yay for the avocado toast. A great option for a kid other than the typical unhealthy kids menu offerings.

Excellent food - best salad today and bread was fabulous too. My husband loved the turkey sandwich and the many cookies and sweets are always yummy. And we took home chicken pot pies for dinner. They are amazing!!It’s the best place for lunch. And you can reserve a high tea - really a good way to celebrateI could go on but you get the idea - Tenby’s is excellent. Try it.
