This is not a hotel. It is 4 rooms at the top of a staircase in a locked building. There's no onsite staff, lobby or reception. There's no lounge or common area downstairs (the photos of the restaurant are old - it is currently locked and only used for special events). Management of the rooms is outsourced to a company in a different state. We had a time-consuming and frustrating check-in process. They are supposed to text you access codes to the building and to your room ahead of check-in. We stood outside in the wind and rain and had to call and text to attempt to get a code that would open the door to the building. It never worked and we ultimately had to get access to a lockbox with a physical key. Once we entered the building, we had to experience the exact same issues and lengthy process to get access to our room. The property management company must get the same basic check-in questions over and over, but still do not seem to have the information organized. When the codes wouldn't work, they didn't seem to know what to do. They tried different (incorrect) codes and unwittingly gave us a lockbox combination with a key to someone else's room. Now that we know we can't get into the building or the room without delay and frustration, we'll never stay there again. We actually stayed twice - once at the beginning and once at the end of our trip, and even after the second time, we never did get correct access codes to the front door. We would have cancelled the second night if the cancellation policy allowed it.

This review is post remodel and Feb 2025. Check in was horrendous. Wrong codes. Put on hold for 40min to get a new code to get into building and then had a wrong code again to enter the actual room which led to another 30min wait to get help from a help desk in the Philippines. No people on site.

Room was 61 degrees when we entered. Walls are paper thin and balcony is shared with room beside you. Door codes given to us no longer worked after first use and no one on site to help out. Had a 6 month infant with us. For $400 a night we expected substantially better. Absolutely never again. Not even for a quarter of the price.

Also said there was “parking” but no details at all about how or where.

I've stayed at 4 different hotels in PT. This is 3/4 in my opinion.

When booking the hotel, I asked for additional pillows and a fan if possible. I did not hear anything about not being able to fill my requests. (I could have brought my own if I had.) Upon arrival, there were no extra pillows. I tried to make do for the first night and asked for extras the second. Their response was, "sorry we don't have extra pillows."

This is a very small hotel. How do you not have spare pillows? And why can't you say that in advance?

The parking situation is the worst of all 4 hotels. There is no dedicated parking. How far you have to bring your luggage is up to the parking gods.

The complimentary muffins look to be the new Costco muffin recipe which are famously not tasty so not really a perk there either.

I enjoyed not having to interact with anyone to check in and I appreciate the bottled water and orange juice.

Just stay at Palace Hotel instead.

The wife and I stayed in the same room 12 years ago and the ambience and the stay was completely different and a little disappointing. The rooms have been remodeled and they added decks which was nice, but they removed all history and quaintness of all the guests written notes stuffed in the brick wall nooks and crannies. There was Lots of notes and signatures from people all over the world which were very interesting. The restaurant which used to be downstairs on the main floor is now closed, which is no big deal because there are plenty of great restaurants in PT.
In my opinion The Belmont Hotel is over pticed at three hundred bucks a night.
We only stayed there for nostalgic reasons. Unfortunately, this will be our last stay there.
There is a lot of choices to stay in town.
The Belmont is a completely self Check in with digital entry codes and communication through text messages.

Rooms: Room was clean and comfy.
Lots of stairs to get to the rooms. Water view was great.

Food and drinks: The "continental breakfast" was a couple of Coctco muffins in a basket on the table with OJ and water in the fridge.

Very nice looking place - no surprises from the photos
Location was good right in center if town
Hallways and room smelled like chemical spray - not nice!
In the room there was a sound like a frog all night - I discovered an electronic insect/mouse repeller plugged in to the wall which made me nervous about mice snd insects so i did not have a good sleep.
Overall a poor experience and grossly overpriced.

Rooms: Looks good smells bad presence of insect repeller suggests they may have problems. I would not go back.

This lovely small hotel right in the heart of Port Townsend. I walked to restaurants, the Saturday Farmers Market, and shops. The deck off the waterfront room was sunny and peaceful - perfect to enjoy morning coffee. Self check-in worked great, and the room was well stocked with everything I needed. Will definitely return when I'm in PT!Note that the hotel was beautifully renovated in 2018, so older reviews (especially ones about food from the now-closed restaurant below) don't reflect the current experience.

I recently stayed at the Belmont for a special reunion. I was blown away by the attention to detail in every aspect of this hotel. The bed was the MOST comfortable I've ever slept in (did not want to get out of it). the sheets were pure silky heaven and the views unparalleled!!!! 2 waters, juices and plastic wine glasses perfectly arranged in the fridge. 2 huge beautiful blueberry muffins graced the pressed glass plates with REAL forks for our morning delight and THANK YOU GOD for a Kurig versus a small old coffee maker! The place was SPOTLESS and beds perfectly made, bathrobes perfectly hung in the wardrobe. Slept like a baby with the French doors opening onto the porch with the beach below and sounds of the waves gently lapping the shore. Watched the ferry going by and the sunset from the bed. LIFE IS SURELY GOOD! I will be back and will tell everyone I know! THANK YOU for a little slice of heaven! I felt like a Queen and my family can't stop raving about your hotel! I hadn't even gotten to the convenience to shopping and whale watching all within the same block as the hotel! AHHHHH

The hotel staff were wonderful, however, when I first saw this hotel I thought it was a strip club because the colours of the building were pretty tasteless. My room was adequate for my one night stay and the food in the restaurant bar was excellent. The location too, is very seedy with drug addicts loitering across the street and in the surrounding streets. My major complaint is that although I had prepaid my stay entirely before arriving, I was asked to leave a deposit of $250CAD. I didn't charge anything to my room and left it neat and tidy. At checkout I was expecting a refund of my deposit. It is almost a month since my stay and the amount of $250, although not taken out of my account, sits as a pending transaction with my bank. How is this legal, that an hotel can just delay clearing this amount from their books. I have attempted to phone from Australia to the hotel and cannot get through. I have sent two emails requesting that my deposit be released and have had no response at all. Whenever I have left a deposit at hotels in the past and charged nothing to my room, my deposit is instantly released. I have to assume that they are not very efficient and have a "don't care" attitude.

We had a wonderful experience at this cute waterfront hotel! Marilou, the manager, was very helpful and responsive. The self-check in process was as smooth as can be, and the rooms were spacious and cozy. It’s also right in the heart of the downtown, so a perfect spot for a little weekend getaway. We would absolutely stay here again!

This hotel was beautifully furnished and very clean. We stayed in a waterfront room with double french doors that opened up to a large balcony. Bring a bottle of wine and a good book (no TV) and enjoy the water views on the balcony! Great downtown location and super easy check in.

Overpriced. Cool building, cute room but thin walls and just lacking in overall appeal for the price of the room for one night.

The room was beautiful with high ceilings, exposed brick, a big comfy bed, and was very clean. The owner checked in with us over text and was super kind. There is an entirely self check-in process that is easy to follow which is great for social distancing. This hotel is right in the middle of downtown Port Townsend. We woke up each morning and walked out the door and 1 minute to our right for great coffee and 3 minutes to our left for pastries. We will be return customers for sure!
