Mixed bag. We've gotten take away four times, 2 great and 2 not so great. The customer service can be really bad when busy, and the wait is insane. Food is good though, best Thai you'll find in Poulsbo.

We really enjoyed our meals here in Poulsbo. We ordered crab wontons as an appetizer and they were delish! We also had yellow curry, cashew chicken and basil beef as well as Tom Kah soup. All were divine! We will be back!!

Kachai has a ton of gluten free options! We have had the calamari, garlic chicken, pad thai, green curry and a cup of coconut mushroom soup. Everything was delicious and really hit the spot. Especially the Garlic Chicken! The service is hit or miss.... Not outstanding. Our food was served quickly though. Best Thai we've found so far. The atmosphere is darker and not too loud. Good little date night spot.

Dietary restrictions: Menu items clearly labeled for both vegan and gluten free options. SO MANY gluten free options - more items were gluten free than not and we loved being able to order whatever we wanted.

Nice place. Food is lacking. We ordered our meals 2 star and 4 star. Both came 0 star. Our appetizer was overcooked.

Visited on Valentine's Day 2024 Initially I had made the mistake and thought this placed closed at 9pm. We walked in at 7:45 thinking we had time as we were just passing through and needed a meal. I asked the host if seating was still available as it was busy and Valentine's Day. We got seat immediately and host was quick and kind. Upon our server visiting the table he offered us a beverage, no beverage menu and I believe just wine and beer. No cider, mocktails or cocktails. The menu was a bit confusing as far as the entree option on each menu stating a side of white rice came with it but did not realize it was a smaller shared side. Chef walked by and gifted us more rice which was very nice! I expected for $50 per person to receive my own side of rice per price. Food was delicious, I did not enjoy my first salad option and asked if I could please get the other option. I don't think anything was wrong with it, just did not fit my tastebuds. It was exchanged no problem and I am happy to pay for the food wasted. There was 3 tables left at 9pm when we had gotten the bill. The bill was responsibly priced and we were accidentally double charged for a glass of wine but the server quickly took care of it. After presenting the card for payment they said that it had declined and another form was needed. This card had no issues being issued during the day.:. We gave them our next card and same story. We waited for about 20-30 minutes and missed our show at a nearby theater waiting for the to fix the issue. We did not have cash as it was posted that card was available for payment. They asked us to come back the following morning when we were on vacation and our ID showed we were not from the area. They also took a picture of our ID's as if we had done something wrong. On our way out of town the following morning we stopped to talk to the manager about possible compensation for our time as we had lost our tickets for the show the night before and our now spending our morning addressing this issue. I had asked the host to have the manager contact me and I'd be happy to then pay over the phone. Later that day, it being our VACATION I missed a called from the restaurant. They left a voicemail and texted my partner and I "Heard you stopped by Kachai but did not pay. I would appreciated if you get this done asap. Binh " When I returned the call it was very hostile as if I was trying to steal from them. I disputed with the chef(?) not the manager about quality of service near the end of our meal. Him saying nothing wrong on their part, which there was not but when there is systematic failures you should take care of the guest who are here on their unpaid time and are paying for the service. In my opinion he was rude and defensive instead of understanding we are paying a lot of money for this meal. He also was extremely rude saying we came in before closing, when there was a full restaurant and we specifically asked if they were still seating guest for dinner. As a former server I have the right to refuse service if need be and they should have done so if they were uncomfortable with us as I was confused about hours. He agreed to take 10% off to "Make me happy". In reality this restaurant should reconsider how they talk to guest and address their issues. If this was a quick dinner in and out cheap I wouldn't have thought twice about it. But this restaurant chose to do a specialty menu and courses meals to provide an experience.I think their service should reflect the company values and goals.

My husband and I tried Kachai 2 years ago when we first moved to the area. It was highly recommended but we were disappointed. The food was just so-so. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things, because I went again recently with a friend and had a very different experience. We fell back on old favorites, and we both felt it was some of the best Thai food we'd ever had. She ordered Pad Thai and I ordered Pad See Ew with Shrimp. Deliciously seasoned and very ample portions.

Food is good. Service is...odd. We good some meat spring rolls and we had ordered veggie spring rolls and the waitress acted put off "I think you said 'meat'." No, we're not in the habit of accidentally ordering meat when we haven't eaten meat for 6 years. Otherwise food was very good. Now the odd part: We had finished our food. They cleared our table. We paid. There were people at 3 or 4 other tables in the restaurant so we didn't feel bad about "camping out." We just wanted to sit and talk. Then a manager-type-lady comes to our table and said "there are high schoolers here," then just stood there looking at us. My mind started racing--did they need our table for a big party or something? Were we engaging in profanity-laced conversation? (No, and, no.) I eventually said "uh, ok? What does that mean?" She said "they need to go home." So we immediately felt bad, and left right away thinking we'd lost track of time and stayed past close. As we were getting in the car we realized it was 8:45 and they close at 9. My suggestion to management is to hire people that can work the hours you're open, or change the hours you're open. Because that was weird.

Everything was tasty but the meat portions were very low, if nonexistent. There was no Dungeness crab that I could locate or taste in the crab wontons. 3 small pieces of chicken in the Phad Thai. For those prices that is a shame.

This Thai restaurant offers a mixed experience.Food (3/5):While the food is decent, it doesn't quite meet the high expectations set by other aspects of the restaurant. The flavors are satisfactory, but some dishes may lack the depth and authenticity found in top-tier Thai cuisine.Presentation and Ambiance (5/5):The presentation of dishes and the overall ambiance of the restaurant are outstanding. From beautifully plated dishes to a welcoming atmosphere, the restaurant excels in creating a visually appealing and inviting dining environment. Clean restrooms is a plus one to their maintenance as well.Staff (4/5):The staff is attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall dining experience. While their service is commendable, there may be occasional lapses in attention to detail or speed of service that prevent a perfect rating. We asked for napkins a few times and one of the dishes came with an ingredient we said no to while ordering. We kept it anyway as we were all hungry.Overall, while the food did not reach the same level of excellence as the presentation and ambiance, the combination of these factors, along with friendly staff, makes this Thai restaurant a decent choice for a pleasant dining experience.Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian options available on the menuDietary restrictions: Vegetarian and some vegan options. Meat options available tooParking: Lot of free parking in the plaza parking lotKid-friendliness: This place is kids friendlyWheelchair accessibility: This place is ♿️ accessible
