This is not a chain restaurant. It is locally owned and has been in business for many years. They offer a nice range of menu items. Their oysters are fresh and properly prepared on ice...have had them many times. Their artichoke and Dungeness crab starter is really tasty. I've good meals every time I have dined at Matt's. I especially like their Short Rib Stroganoff, but my dining companions raved about the Prime Rib Dip sandwich. My last visit was with a larger party including a three-year old. Our server was patient, efficient, smiling, and flexible.
With a reservation for 6 we asked for a quieter table. Service was great & there was no rush, allowing for a nice “date night.”
They must not be doing very much business, which is surprising because they're in a great location. The hostess was not particularly friendly...not angry, but seemed like she was not happy in her job. We ordered food at the bar - Our bartender turned out to also be their cook and food server, at times preparing food at the bar which was odd. When they brought our raw oysters we were told they don't have/serve saltine crackers - only some kind of unsalted flatbread. Again, odd for an oyster bar.
The ambiance is bad. I'd a reservation and they seated us at the end of the restaurant next to the restrooms and we could smell the toilet, ugh! Very bad layout, not going back again!
Prime rib was tough. We told the waiter and he did nothing to resolve it. Oysters and fresh peach cobbler was great! Halibut was fresh. We ate outside so rating on ambience should consider this. Would never go back.
This was our first time eating here. Food was okay. The setup and noise level wasn't the best for a private dining or lack of noise experience. I was surprised by where the restaurant is located, and what's served on the menu, that the atmosphere would have been a little more upscale. Pricing was decent, food came out hot and without much wait. I heard the prime rib was the best item, but we all got steak and the risotto.
Matt's Rotisserie is a good place to eat. Sam, our server, was very good. He kept up with all of our asks and made some good suggestions for dinner. The Ambiance was nice. The only questionable area was the cost. I'm not sure this restaurant warrants an almost $200 bill for two people, consisting of one appetizer, one glass of wine, and two dinners. It appeared a bit spendy for our liking, but you make up your mind.
Lovely meal with great service. Kitchen got slammed since it was Derby Days so I was very happy we had reservations. I had the fried polenta, my husband had their steak special, and my youngest had the prime rib dip. All the entrees were nice but the real star were the oysters and garlic flatbread appetizers. Service was good though a mite slow when they got slammed but they caught up quickly.
1. Wedge salad lettuce was old, brown spots, limp, very little dressing 2. Server forgot about taking our order after delivering the drinks 3. Fries were cold 4. Didn't refill my drink
This is one of my go to special occasions restaurants, or even just for a large group lunch! The food is delicious, there's a good variety, and it's tried and true. I especially like the huckberry martini, cambozola flatbread, hot chocolate dessert. Their soup and salad option is also a great portion size!

While the food was good and the server was awesome, I cannot say the same for the hostess. We were a party of 6 adults and had a reservation for 4:15 p.m. We arrived a couple minutes early and were seated in a booth but the booth was not comfortable for the six of us, particularly one with disabilities. There were several empty tables so I asked if we could move to a more comfortable table. The hostess said no, that all the tables were reserved and set for parties of 7. She also said that the parties of 7 were due to arrive at 6:00 p.m. I figured we would be gone by then but asked instead for a chair to sit at the end of our booth so the person with disabilities could sit there more comfortably (it would not have been in the way of the wait staff). She reluctantly allow us to do that. In my opinion, she was rude and inconsiderate of the customer's needs. We have been there before and enjoyed our time but will not return.
Reception host could probably be a bit more hospitable
Had lunch with a friend. Rotisserie chicken salad, oysters, flatbread and hot chocolate dessert!! It was sooo delicious, excellent server!! Love this place.
Poor experience
Good happy hour menu, and very tasty monthly specials. However, this January specials didn't impress, I tried the Salmon Diavola, the pasta was high on acidity, and I didn't enjoy much. The crispy king salmon was OK, but the flavor profile lacked richness, plus some of the squash cubes were still raw and were not cooked properly. The beet salad appetizer again lacked balance in flavors, the goat cheese came in chunks, I would have preferred to be whipped, there were a lot of raisins, which I left behind, and the dressing was light.
