A month into our new lease. First, in response to my review below, the team reached out to me immediately and got us all taken care of. They've been responsive since (Thank you, Quinton.) Denys and Mic, the maintenance guys, have been super speedy with same or next-day repairs and always friendly. We are happy to see them on the property and they always say hi back.
While it seems too soon into the lease to have repairs (leaking boiler pipe in need of new o-ring and broken washer that got replaced with a new one), they weren't hesitant and were generous! For all of this, I increased a star.
Overall, it's an older apartment but more spacious, comfortable, quiet, and affordable. No pest problems inside the apartment, seems clean.
Cons to note: Not the best insulation (cold draft through walls/windows, can hear neighbors turn their restroom fan on and using bathroom). Hot water in the shower becomes warm after 10mins or so (I take 15min showers so doesn't bother me too much) . Very dark at night, especially between buildings. (Please add more lights for safety! 🙏) I try not to come out at night. It seems safe and peaceful during the day.
OCT 2024:
It's bizarre how no one reviewed that "no one works in the office anymore" (they work remotely) and everything gets lost in text message, e-mail, and voicemail. We are approved for our unit to move in this Saturday, but no one has contacted to sign the lease! It has been three days of no contact after the approval process. We received automatic text messages to provide our vehicle info and we replied right away twice, left two voicemails, and one e-mail. No response.
We have already notified our current leasing office that we are not renewing our lease so at this point, we have lost our $300 holding fee and have no home. We liked the unit they remotely opened the door for us to see but this lack of person-to-person experience is sure worrisome. At least include in the applicant portal a place for us to communicate via chat or submit the vehicle information!
Please contact us before Saturday!!!
Never actually got to move here since the unit we wanted was taken before we could put a deposit down, but the leasing agent Henry was very helpful and patient with all our questions and inquiries. He was willing to work with us and did all he could to accommodate our situation.
There is no longer a leasing office on site and communication is all electronic. Messages are never replied to in a timely manner or they seem to ignore them and never get back to you. I have lived and other Essex properties in the past and never have had such issues. You’d think for how much they charge they’d want to maintain contact with tenants.
Great apartments. The maintenance team is very professional,Denys was very helpful.
This complex feels very home-y. It’s a lot of families and shaded by ample trees. The real winner here is the staff though which is what separates it from a majority of the other nearby complexes. Courtney Schwarz seems to run the show and is not only approachable but really cares if any issues occur in the building and does what she can to advocate to Essex to do what is needed to improve the complex. Most property management staff at places do the bare minimum. Also, the maintenance staff is constantly working to keep things up kept so the place doesn’t fall apart slowly- they’re out there working on something every day and any maintenance requests are taken care of almost immediately because they actually put money into having a full staff of maintenance.
Realistically the only downsides of this apartment are 1) you do hear a lot through the walls, it is an older building- so yes you will hear kids run sometimes- but again, these are families and adults, all you’re hearing is the day to day normal life- not partying kids or anything - it’s never bothered me one bit but it is there 2) parking lot security- which Courtney has been putting effort to increase not only by holding the security company accountable but by pushing to hopefully have cameras installed in the lot in the upcoming year
Overall it is a lovely place to live as far as apartments go. You get a lot for what you’re paying (space anxiety storage wise - amenities too) and the drawbacks are minor.
An amazon delivery driver got shot here and he passed away on the scene. Stay away from this place!
Lived there for a year and one month on a ground floor. Nice to have a small backyard. Parking wasn't the best and interior was ok. Maintenance was good. My issue is after the move out, I received the statement with huge charges for painting for minor marks on the walls. Called the number on the statement multiple times and emailed multiple times with no response whatsoever from either. I even called the main office, who said they couldn't do anything but would try to get in contact with past resident support. No luck or contact from them still. It passed 2 months now and I can't access my account anymore. Very frustrating and not a good way to handle business. Seeing other reviews about similar issues makes sense.
I really like the apartments ESSEX , the apartment workers also do their jod very well. Denys will always help to fix appliances that break in your apartment
great place! spacious apartment, quiet, large pool and jacuzzi, we are pleased that we chose this apartment! We especially want to thank Denis, who always repairs everything in our apartment on time and with high quality?
I lived at Fairwood Pond for 3 years and for the most part enjoyed my stay. I was a good tenant who always paid rent on time and never had any issues. Things went wrong when our building flooded due to a busted water pipe. I had to leave the apartment for almost 2 months and a packing company packed most of my items and stored them while repairs were made. I had to pay a $500 deductible for my insurance to cover things AND I continued to pay my rent on time. When I called Essex about possible reimbursement I was nicely given the run around and eventually told that they could not do anything for me....and then I received notice that they were raising my rent again a couple hundred dollars. I could not afford the increase and decided to move giving plenty of notice. After paying my final rent and for the few days extra, I was told that I owed an additional $844 due to carpet issues and cleaning. I was upset because I left that apartment super clean along with the renovated areas from flooding- I have the pictures to prove it. Anyway, just be aware.

The community is great, it's quiet, excellent staff here all of them and always smiling and just always in great spirits never been mean, the maintenance are great and always so friendly and helpful, all staff are friendly, other peers who reside here are as well great people and friendly and always smiling and speaking and I really love it because it's difference race and you actually learn about others culture's and it's amazing, the animal's are even friendly, very clean and always well kept up, I would definitely recommend these apartment's to anyone and I already have. I really love how all the kid's interact with one another, and I can go on and on but I'll keep going but I'm not but to rate it def gets a 5 wish they had it to where you can choose 10 stars. Thank you!
Security is good. Feels safe.
My husband and I were in search of new housing for our family of 4 for more than 2 month. We drove all over King County, saw so many different apartments ... In Renton, I think we visited all kinds of apartments that are here. I will tell you that Fairwood Pond is the best we have seen for such a price. We love this place very much. Within one month after moving we made many new pleasant acquaintances, since the people living here are friendly, there are a lot of families with children, which means it should be a safe place, children play here, ride bicycles, as if we were in another world (to clarify - before we lived in Federal Way) In this complex there is everything you need! If you move here then you will not be mistaken! This is the brightest apartment that we have seen before, and the balconies ... the balconies are just ... gigantic! Of course, there will be some minor flaws here as elsewhere, but this is nothing compared to all the advantages of this place.
Literally no noise cancelling you can hear neighbors talking normally. If you do not pay for a parking spot most of the time you can not find any.It has very small fitness room and pool.
