Nice local Renton bar for a quiet experience. Have been here often and will go again.

Renton institution! Love the staff!! Food's decent. Beer selection is always changing!

Ordered the fish and chips with fries and beer cheese pretzels. Was way too much food for one person, the pretzels alone was a full meal! The fish had good texture and great portions and not too greasy. Had Meredy as my bartender and she was really nice and helpful to find a great local beer! Which was the Mango cart beer, I like really mild and non hoppy beers so this was perfect to go with the fish & Chips and pretzel. When I am back in Renton for business I will be sure to come back to this locals spot that you wouldn't normally find unless you are a Yelper!

This place is now The Hop Garden. And it's very good! Looks like they closed for a remodel and changed the name.

The location is open under a new name with a new owner. It is now The Hop Garden. Many upgrades to the place, menu, and beer list. Worth a visit.

The DOG and PONY is NOT CLOSED! They are doing massive renovations that can not be done while open. Check them out near the first weeks in October when the work is finished.

Great back patio and friendly waitstaff. We went while it was very busy and the wait was a littlelong, so our great waitress gave us a kind discount.

We are new to the Renton area and this is a great place for happy hour! Awesome beer choices, nachos and chicken wrap. If the rest of the menu is anything like the happy hour menu I Highly recommend!

Came here with my parentals. Little slow getting drinks so we made sure we were completely ready with what we wanted to order. Once we ordered, everything came quite quickly. Used our 10% coupon for checking in. Dad had a philly cheese steak, mom and I had Cobb salads. Quite impressed. Definitely recommend.

Great outdoor seating area, and the service was awesome. The Reuben with the tots were amazing and Xtra crispay will definitely be back!

Nice place but no a lot of parking. The service sucked. Started with one waitress but ended up with someone different. Had to get my own beer and our server must have thought we did not want refills on water because she never topped off, even when asked. I rate them this high because it's one server not all and the food was great and they had a great selection on beer. I would try them again and recommend them to someone as well.

Tried this out after many years for lunch. The Ruben was pretty good and stuffed heavily with corned beef. The fries though were great they had the crispy coating and fully cooked. Yummy! I'd come back for the fries and Ruben again.

The search for new Renton lunch spots continues, this time down the road to Dog & Pony Ale House. This place impressed me, but really only because I've been 1st hand b**** to the unreasonably high prices of every lunch place in Renton. The long and short of it: 1. Food. To start, the food was fine but nothing spectacular. Which is fine. We just wanted a place to grab work lunch. The grilled chicken sandwich was as advertised and the street tacos were tasty. I was impressed with how fresh the side salad was so go with that if you're aiming to hit the slightly healthier side. Their lunch menu is where it's at (see #2 below). 2. Price. A decently priced lunch spot!? In Renton!? Do mine eyes deceive me? Dog & Pony offers a lunch specials menu that's actually worth ordering off of and isn't absurdly expensive for what you get (which if you're unaware is the theme of Renton lunch joints). $8 for a grilled chicken sandwich and a drink is a down right bargain compared to all of the places around the area. Major plus. 3. Seating. There's a pretty decent outdoor patio as well as your standard indoor bar seating. The outdoor area is actually really nice, secluded with plenty of plants. 4. Service. The service was attentive and quick. I'm unsure if they figured we were doing a work lunch, and it probably didn't hurt that we were the only people there at the time, but that doesn't take away from the fact they they were spot on. Dog & Pony impressed me more than other Renton lunch places, mainly because it offered decent food at an actual lunch price. Not the most overwhelming of establishments, but unlike other Renton joints, we'll be back. Overall Grade: B-

Cool spot in the middle of nowhere really. Great beer selection and good food. Perfect to sit outside on a nice day. One of my favorite neighborhood spots to go.

We stumbled upon this place and went in just because the name of it was too good. But we found inside was even better than the name. The service was friendly, outgoing and fast. All of the food is handmade and the portions are huge. If you like craft beer they have two 40" screens of rotating craft beer. They also have a great 4 to 6 happy hour where they have discounts on well drinks, beer, and a happy hour menu. They also have a really good outside space of that is cut off from the intersection with a fence and about an 8' hedge so you don't even hear the road noise. I had taking pictures of some of the food this was the BLT on sourdough with sweet potato fries, an order of beer battered onion rings with their sweet chili sauce (AWESOME) the fried pickle chips and the handmaid deep fried mozzarella (there's two sticks missing because my wife and I actually each grab one) If you are in Renton, you would be a fool not to give them a try.
