Ivar's Seafood Bar

I love Ivar's. Beautiful scenery while you are eating. Food was hot and fresh. I would suggest the Cajun fish sandwich if you haven't.

Ivar's has the best fish & chips in Western Washington. We like the cod best.

The Renton location is in a park on a pier on the lake with beautiful views. Eat in the fully-glassed inside area, or outside if the weather is fine.

Go for a walk on the loop pier along the lake before you eat to peak your appetite, or afterwards for digestion.

On the 17th of May 2025 I was at this Ivars in order to three-piece fish and chips. It was about 1:00 p.m. and surprising to me was hardly anyone there. It was great. You've had a light batter, not overcooked, and just plain old delicious. This was a pretty Alaskan cod. The fish is small can you get a large order of french fries with it. You can also order a 4 and 5 piece fish and chips. The service with friendly and prompt. I definitely go here again and likely order the four or five piece

Ordered the jumbo prawns and the four piece, Alaskan salmon fish and chips. One of the salmon was kind of small, but overall very filling for the price - $30 total

Good food. Served hot and ready to eat. Views were good of the lake. Beautiful day when I went here so it combined for great trip.

It was a great day to have lunch outside, enjoyed both great food and nice weather. The classic clam chowder was really good, the cod was excellent, only thing the french fries portion a bit on the small side.
Service was quite fast, we thought with the long line it will take forever to order and get food, but the employees had things rolling quite fast and organized.

Fish wasnt that big but was good

Ordered calamari and cup of white clam chowder. Ordering was streamlined and very well organized.
I thought being a waterfront place, the calamari would be better but it was underwhelming. I thought with the price, they would be better. The chowder had a few small clams but the flavoring was good.

The fish was really good. But I thought that it was a little prices for the size of the pieces of fish

Got 3 pieces of cod. Smaller than expected but excellent. As was the Cole slaw.

I went yesterday for dinner with my family we were in a mode for fish and chips. The moment I walked in the restaurant I noticed how dirty it was, and the trash (tissues, remaining food and utensils) were everywhere. The tables have not been cleaned at all. The customers cleaned them before sitting down by themselves. I spotted also spider webs close to the kitchen. Poor customer service. The employee are kids, they just don’t care.
Then there was a duck entered the restaurant and started to fly over the customer heads. The duck knocked out the tables and the food. No one come to clean the mess or even check on the customers. I forgot to mention that the restaurant was not busy at all. After I witness all that I canceled my order and went to different restaurant. I hope someone will check on that restaurant (Renton location) and do something about it. It’s really sad to see this restaurant going downhill like this.
