Today, 11/25 at around 1:40 PM, I had a very disappointing experience with one of your baristas, Kenzie. I am a regular at RVC because of the great coffee, burritos, cake pops for my grandkids, and most importantly, the consistently friendly service I’ve always received.
When I ordered my coffee, I asked Kenzie if I could see the container of cake pops, as I’ve done many times before without any issue. She responded by telling me it was a health code violation and that she couldn’t “just have me grab the cake pops.” It wasn’t what she said, but the way she said it. I felt like I was being reprimanded. A simple, friendly explanation would have been enough.
She then told me the flavors, and I ordered three. I mentioned that I’ve always enjoyed coming to RVC and never had a problem with anyone before. Instead of calming the situation, she became defensive and insisted she wasn’t trying to argue, while continuing to argue. The exchange became tense enough that another barista, who was very kind and had prepared my coffee, stepped in and asked her to go to the back.
This was my first time encountering Kenzie, and the interaction left a very negative impression. If I see her working during future visits, I will ask to be assisted by a different barista. I hope this was an isolated incident, as I’ve always loved coming to RVC.
