We’ve lived in this neighborhood for just over 9 months as I write this and Muddy Cup is easily our favorite coffee spot. We spend a lot of our time in the outdoors and the cabin feel & decor of this place evokes Stanley, ID, Moab, UT, insert your favorite small mountain town, with no corporate undertones. The rear patio is tucked back off the road and sheltered by shady trees. The owner/barista Sarah (Sara? sorry if misspelled) is sweet, kind, and doesn’t rush you. Her standard coffees drinks are very well-executed, but when we stop by it’s usually for one of her special concoctions - the Orange You Glad Latte & the Put a Lime in the Coconut Mocha for us today. It’s an easy walk away, so even on the rare occasion I can’t find a seat inside, I enjoy the patio, chat with a neighbor, or take a slow walk home with a tasty drink and a bag of their roasted beans.

I really enjoyed my visit to this coffee shop-it’s a true gem for art lovers! Very small space but very much local and community oriented. The decor is thoughtfully curated, showcasing beautiful pieces from local artists that create a warm, inspiring atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend hours soaking in creativity while sipping your coffee.

The coffee beans they use are definitely high quality, and you can tell they take pride in their in-house roaster. However, I found that the flavors didn’t quite live up to the potential of the beans. My banana flavored latte lacked the depth I was hoping for. May be just a wrong flavor from their menu but I’ll go back to try others.

Overall, this spot is good if you appreciate art and a cozy vibe alongside your caffeine fix. With a little more attention to flavor profiles, it could easily be a 5-star experience. I’ll be back to see what new artwork they feature and to support local creatives!

I truly believe every neighborhood has a special place that turns the neighborhood from a location to a community. I found a Muddy Cup when I was lost, and it quickly became my haven, my bastion of community, and some days, the only place that felt like home.

I have met friends, lovers, enemies, and so so so many dogs.

The kind staff everyone speaks of are the owners. They run their business as ethically as humanly possible. They're there every single day of the week to provide you with the best damn coffee in the area. And when I say the area, I mean the pacific north west. I think the only technically superior coffee might be Beware coffee in Tacoma, but those dudes are huge coffee science nerds and in the delivery of technically perfect coffee, they lose a lot of the humanity A Muddy Cup provides.

Look, if you're still reading this: go. go to a Muddy Cup. it's quaint, it's kitschy, it's nothing at all like Starbucks, outside of the consistency of product. Except this product is chosen and roasted in house weekly and the people there actually care about your well being.

Order a match latte, it's not on the menu and it's the best I've ever had in my life.

Friendly staff AND customers, in a very relaxing atmosphere. Most importantly, the coffee there is out of this world. Easily one of the best coffee in Seattle, which is saying a lot.
