Overall a nice restaurant within city centre. Very active and reasonably loud place, but engaging and comfortable. We each had a salad with wagyu beef, and this is where it slipped up in our opinion. The salad portion were tasty but the beef was far from anything wagyu; being very chewy and tough. Resembled flank steak. My wife had to put three or four pieces back into her bowl after trying to chew it down to digest it. Good place, but they either need to change their supplier or take it off the menu.

Great food. Stellar service. Noisy room. Serving sizes were large- we left absolutely stuffed.

It was just okay. Nothing special. The smoked salmon dip was good, the meatballs weren't. The tuna poke had a great flavor but the cuts of tuna were stringy.

I stopped in for dinner and ordered the steak frites — perfectly cooked, rich, and balanced — alongside a Manhattan and a Painkiller that were both artfully crafted. Every detail, from the flavor to the presentation, felt thoughtful. But what truly made the night was my server. I can't recall her name, but she had fabulous glasses and an energy that immediately lit up the room. As someone who's been working through bouts of depression and anxiety, I often find myself putting on a brave, overly optimistic face. She met me there — genuinely, not performatively — and I left feeling lighter and happier than I have in months. Alder & Ash delivers on food and drink, but more importantly, it reminded me how meaningful a kind interaction can be. I'll be back — if not just for the steak and cocktails, then to see her again.

Service was amazing! Prices were moderate and the food was great. Fish and chips are very good!

The restaurant is noisy and lacks intimacy, but nicely decorated. Our food and service were good, but we only had salads and a glass of wine. We were seeing a show, so they were efficient about moving things along and getting us out in time. We would eat there again.

The food quality was poor -- I had the shrimp scampi (6 medium shrimp on a small amount of pasta that undoubtedly was out of a box). Nothing refined about it, too salty. I could have made this dish at home in under 10 minutes and better... and certainly would have saved myself $28+. My co-diner had the fish and chips. Zero flavor. The only thing good was the cocktail. The server was a nice kid, but obviously understaffed. We waited a long while for everything. Not his fault, so tipped him well, but we definitely won't be back. Super noisy as well.

Alder & Ash has never disappointed us. The food and service is always top notch. We were very happy with each part of our dinner there, and will return for sure.

Th service was horrible! Clearly, grossly understaff. Had both a dinner on Thursday and a brunch on Saturday and the service was below expectation. Waited way too long for a waiter to return to table to take our orders and then when we put in an order, we were told the kitchen and bar was closed (Thursday). Joyce was the waiter on Sunday. Not very friendly. Seemed annoyed that I requested a specific booth and was the only waiter serving a section full of customers. A big disappointment! Waste of my money and time. I would have been better off going to another restaurant and paid less with better service!

It was a perfect dinner choice for going to the Paramount. Great location, food & service. We really enjoyed it!

The hostess was delightful and wished our party members a Happy Birthday. Our server was rude, cranky, and passive aggressive with every interaction. At first I thought it was me, but then, she said unfriendly things to others at the table and then we feared asking for dessert. The manager was cool and stand offish. Our only thought was that maybe the server was working through pain since she had a limp. A damper on our birthday celebrations, but we tried to keep up the joy.

We split the Harvest Salad which was described as having apples, ribbons of rainbow carrots, radicchio, and kale. It was mostly iceberg lettuce, the carrots were normal orange ones, and we each had maybe 1-2 slivers of apple in our bowls. But they did split the salad in the kitchen for us. For our main, we both ordered the pork shoulder over polenta which was served in a bowl. The polenta was very creamy and more like grits in texture. There was arugula over the top as well as an orange sauce. The flavors were just ok and everything got mixed together as we ate, which wasn't visually appetizing. Service was fast and friendly, so fine if you have to catch a show. There are other downtown options that are tastier so I doubt I'll return.

We met old friends for dinner. The hostess was lovely. Wait staff were attentive and responsive. One of the nuts in my beer salad was rancid. Luckily I didn't get that until the salad was about done but I avoided the rest of the nuts. My steak was tasty but tough. I took some home though and thinly sliced it made a nice sandwich for lunch the next day. One of our friends ordered the meatballs. She was quite pleased with them.

Excellent service and delicious food. Restaurant decor is also beautiful and I appreciate the wide spacing between tables. Thank you for a wonderful meal! :)

Charming little spot with cute vibes and tasty drinks. The food? Meh, nothing to write home about, and it took its sweet time getting to the table. Maybe the kitchen needs a little tune-up. On the bright side, our waitress was a total ray of sunshine, cheerful, attentive, and kept the mood upbeat!
