Walked by had to give it a try even though i had breakfast 15 minutes previously. The bagel was fresh and delish. Maybe not my style but i can see why other people would like it a lot. I like a dense chewy bagel, these are not it, but if you like soft, airy, and light bagel, you will love it. The shmear (spicy) was good too. Def worth giving it a try. The closest similar style in the 'neighborhood' is Old Salt, and i might like these better.

Very happy about the new location near U Village. The bagels are perfectly made. The egg sandwiches work perfectly with their bagels as the chew and texture give just enough to not squish out of the middle. Amazing.

Love the Fremont location ! Such a vibe. The Bagels are off the charts good! We were so excited when their other location popped up in the University District... They have a new bagel at the U District location that is my now go to, the OG ( with egg and bacon). My fav schmear is the caper and dill. I am covered Ha!

Absolutely amazing bagels and schmears. They rival anything in the BIg APPLE and definitely the best west of the Mississippi

Extremely busy.
This is the best bagel I’ve ever had anywhere. I’m from Chicago, but nothing can beat it (10/10)

Finally leaving a review because I just had the best bagel of my life here. Showed up here at the opening time when there was a line.

My sliced bagel with seasonal schmear was still hot from the oven. The exterior had a bold crunch very crispy while the inside was warm and chewy and doughy and smooth. Both sides of the bagel are seasoned to greatest extent which is possible. The seasonal fig schmear is 🔥🔥🔥 backyard bagel is here to become Seattle bagel legend.

Oh and the customer service is friendly and they play good music! These folks care. Coffee looks great can't wait to taste it

If I could give 3.5 stars, I would.. but I also don’t want to leave a low review just because I don’t like non-toasted bagels! 🥯

I don’t realize how important toast a bagel was - until having this bagel!

Their coffee is great, atmosphere.. their ingredients.. I just can’t do the non-toasted situation!

Got 3 bagels yesterday at the Ballard farmers market and the spicy schmear. I had a piece of the bagel while walking around the market and it was stale. I toasted another one today for breakfast and it barely helped as all of the bagels were pretty stale being sold yesterday. Schmear is good but the bagels are not. A bagel from qfc or freed metra is much better, for fraction of the cost.

I really enjoyed my bagel and vegan schmear! But the reason I am a returning customer is because of the employee, Pheonix! If only every business had an employee as nice as him. Excellent customer service! Thank you!

Not for people on a low salt diet. The bagels are very salty. There are large flakes of salt on the outside, but I think there is more salt than that involved (possibly boiled in salty water as well?). It is rather overpowering and is it necessary? The bagels are very fresh and quite good without the salt.

After a few visits to every bagel shop in the city, backyard easily clears the rest (mt bagel is a close second, but I really just love this place). The sea salt bagel with spicy scallion shmear is addicting. I always loved a toasted bagel, but the freshness of this bagel comes through perfectly untoasted- they know what they’re doing. Very excited to see them expanding and hoping they open a shop in SLU/belltown/QA next!

Definitely in my top 5 for bagel places in Seattle! Love the texture and fullness of these bagels.

Note: no toasting here! And on weekends, you can expect a short line that moves quickly.
