This place is one of our go-to's if we are hungry in U-District (and can find parking which is tough on this street). It has a cozy cafe vibe where you order upfront at the register with the nicest staff and then you can find a seat. They have drinks (hot chocolate is the best) but the food is where it's at. Our favorite is the Mie Tek Tek, a really flavorful noodle dish with veggies and chicken it's SO GOOD!!! It's savory and flavorful but also fresh and not greasy. The serving size is just enough and the price points can't be beat. Beef rendang and Hainan chicken also hit the spot here. 10/10 recommend! Just make sure you check their hours before you drop by!

Super authentic & delicious Indonesian food at University District. The food is delicious for takeout as well. Give them a try if you are in the area or take the light rail on the new station.

19jan2022 ~11:30 arrived to its "Closed" clock-sign diaplaying "be back 17:30" (Google shows it Opens at 12:00). We went for a walk around the neighborhood .. atopped by Goodwill. Returned to Beetle Cafe at ~12:05 and it was still Closed .. a lil disappointed, but not a problem cos there are many other fine eateries around .. ? The 3-stars are for the Menu .. maybe next time can have a taste of the real food ?

Had the hainan chicken rice and the mie tek tek. The hainan chicken was excellent, and some sauces were good. The rice definitely wasn’t up to par though as it was a little soggy. Mie tek tek was great. Would not recommend the popcorn chicken. I like the portion size; just enough without being too huge. Also my cup for water seemed a little dirty. The space is cute with interesting decor

We got takeout from here a month ago and it was excellent, just like my husband's mom cooks. Best Indonesian we ate in Seattle. Wish we could eat here all the time. Hours were a little tricky so pay attention. Whoever took my husbands order did a great job suggesting items while they were on the phone... we ordered so much and it was all good.

Pretty cozy, homey food. I rmb when it first opened and trying their hainan chicken and crispy pork belly and the staff being sooo friendly. I've been craving it bad so got the hainan chicken again and mie tek tek. Both were delicious. I loved how small the meat was in the mie tek tek and how the noodles were kinda chopped up. Kicking myself bc I didn't realize they still serve the crispy pork belly, I'll have to get that next time and try other dishes like the ayam goreng sambal.

I occasionally Google 'Seattle laksa' in the hope that a new place has popped up. Most of the time it yields no new results, and most of the existing laksa offerings are actually red curry soup (which is a travesty). I was VERY excited when Beetle Cafe popped up in today's search results, but tempered my expectations as I couldn't take another crushing disappointment. Thankfully I didn't need to because Christmas came early for me this year! This laksa is spicy with a depth of flavor I've been missing. The serving size was generous and included extra sambal! It travelled well and generally made my soul happy. My boyfriend got Mie Tek Tek and said it was also very tasty. If you are a laksa lover, you absolutely should give Beetle Cafe a try.

Great quality and value. As a Singaporean, this is my go-to place whenever I want a taste of home. Personal favorites include the Hainanese chicken rice, seafood laksa, mie tek tek, and cakalang fish fried rice.

Got the beef rendang. It had good flavor and all the traditional components. The sauce was rich and the beef melts in your mouth. However, note that food and side sauces lack spiciness.

Pocket friendly place located in university district. I loved their ambiance and decor which is really cool. We tried their pop corn chicken and Tofu Mie Tek Tek. The portions are good enough to fill your tummy for a very decent price. Loved the food which was not the usual high soya tasting noodles and with big tofu pieces. I loved the noodles here and the chicken popcorn too!

Love the Mie Tek Tek and the decor :-) Good place to get lunch if you're a student or visiting UW.
