This place was adorably antique and moody, I loved the homey chill energy and relaxed expressive essence. It was in an ally way with spray painted industrial garbage cans but I feel it added to the old seattle, college town vibe ♡ The worker was fun and chatty and super nice, they have you poor your own cream- which I haven't seen done much- and have cream and honey on the table, plus you put on your own lids and straws. Both our americanos came out very watery and my caramel drizzle was extremely sweet so 2 star coffee but 5 star experience ♡

Overpriced
Plenty of seating, reasonable prices
My goodness what a superiority complex these guys have. The second I step up to order, no good morning no hello just straight up glaring and “Yes?”. When they’re shaving a conversation with their coworker, it’s like I’m just invisible at the cash register.

I have had drip coffee all over this city. Cafe Allegro has my favorite. I also recommend the Smokey Jr breakfast sandwich. One of those cafes you sit at with your coffee and think “wow my life is nice”.

Seriously might be the worst cafe in u-district. Staff is beyond rude. Slow to answer, constant glares, interrupted and belittled me when I was asking a question about their seasonal drinks. There wasn't a long line behind me and they weren't busy--and even then it's never okay to act so harshly to a well-mannered customer. As a UW student, I was hoping this could be my new go-to. But after the awful service I got, and watery tasting coffee, I'm not interested in coming back anytime soon. Coffee in Seattle is always expensive, but the prices here are way too much for the amount you get.

I was super surprised that this coffee joint is still in business! I found this place in 1976 after backpacking Europe and getting hooked on real coffee. Cafe Alegro was the only place I found in the greater Seattle area that knew what espresso was so it became a meeting spot for me and friends to play hearts or cribbage for a few years...until I moved north and bought my own espresso maker. It still has a great vibe and I enjoyed my latte. It makes me happy they are still hidden in the alley dishing out coffee🩷

Great study spot. the 5/5 is for the coffee. I think it's the best on the Ave and would go out of my way to pick some up before heading over for class. Haven't tried any of the food though. Great staff and spot to study.

Staff that lack the nuance to differentiate bad service from caustic indifference.
They tossed the Americano onto the pickup counter so abrasively that it splashed everywhere and they didn’t even bother to acknowledge the mess or to clean it up. Pathological behavior.

Despite being in alley that smells, it was a cute cafe with very friendly staff, reasonable prices featuring delicious drinks and pastries
