This was definitely an experience. Food incredibly tasty & so fresh. Service is above & beyond. I have nothing bad to say about anyone! Mac (like the IMac šŸ¤˜šŸ½) he was our server for Wednesday evening. And he was attentive and friendly to our table and others the whole time, always on the go but not rushing, moving with ease. Along with everyone else. The atmosphere was great with a pianist playing near by. (He does accept song requests) We were seated next to the window so we had an amazing view of bridge & north Seattle cityscape.
I recommend this restaurant for a date night, nice family dinner, or birthdays.

Aside from the Service being slow and a sting bug flying around our food, the vibes here are unmatched

Not good for food - the real food is missing! Great for drinks and desserts.

I experienced genuinely remarkable service here. The food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent. Even the piano player Jason was so kind and gave me recommendations for my trip in Seattle. I will probably seek to come back any time I visit

Simply amazing, my wife and I came here for our third wedding anniversary as we got married at Canlis. Thank you Forest and all the other servers for the exceptional experience and what amazing food as well we were so full after our dessert.

Third visit in eight months after two exceptional experiences—but our Valentine’s Day dinner was deeply disappointing. We were seated by a window with cold air blowing throughout the meal, making it uncomfortable. The food was far below Canlis standards: cold, rubbery brioche; an oily crab cake; an oyster that did not taste fresh; and a truffle pasta that arrived cold and felt cheap and careless. Dessert was rock hard and clearly pre-made. The menu felt overly commercial, as if Valentine’s Day was treated as a volume opportunity rather than a refined dining experience. The contrast with our previous visits was shocking—this was a 0/10.

My husband and I have been frequenting Canlis for the last five years because we adore the ambience, service, and cuisine. However, this last visit left much to be desired. The unspoken, incredible coat check we were accustomed to was completely off as my peacoat was strewn haphazardly across an entryway table as we were being seated — and that’s where it was when we got up to leave. Several servers acted either confused or contradicted each other when offering information about our dishes. We opted for a tasting menu complete with wine pairing for Valentine’s Day. The wine and service by the sommelier was the absolute highlight of our evening. She was knowledgeable and professional. The wines were exquisite. The food, unfortunately, was not. Out of the five courses, two were ā€œgoodā€ - and one was dessert. Most of the dishes were over-seasoned (read: very salty) and overcooked. Neither of us finished our food. For a thousand dollar meal, we certainly expected more. Sadly, we will not be returning to the dining room after this experience.

The Canlis restaurant and family can be commended for executing with aplomb the busy Valentine holiday last weekend (Feb. 2026). Service, food, and atmosphere were excellent and as expected from such a long-standing and admired institution.

Finally visited Canlis and we're looking forward to future seasons.
Elevated atmosphere and flawless service: welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely attentive. Menus were thoughtfully curated, beautifully plated, and tasty! Every course of the menu felt well balanced. My favorite from the night was the Halibaut and the Cherry Bomb dessert.

The whole experience started off well when the valet asked me if I was an Uber driver. No offense to uver drivers, but that was rude to assume. The rest was meh

Took some out of town friends for dinner here. Some courses of our meal were solid but there were a lot of misses for our crew.

In the end we agreed with the most recent Seattle time review. The dining room is gorgeous and the service mostly good but the food falls too far short for the premium being asked. This was our third visit and probably last until they shake things up in the kitchen.

Check out Cafe Juanita if you are looking for a similar experience with (imo) food that is both interesting and delicious. Or Rupee bar for something more casual but fantastic all the same.

I dined here recently and was excited to see they had a bean option for their main entree. They have a fabulous reputation so I was thrilled to see what there take on the modest bean would be. However once I tasted it I could not taste anything besides a distinct Tapatio flavor. It would be strange for a restaraunt of their stature to use Tapatio as the defining flavor of their entree but it was unmistakable. Save your money, by some navy beans, and put some Tapatio on them.
