Got the bean & cheese burrito, which is quite literally beans and cheese inside a tortilla. 9 bucks is insane for that. Just go to chipotle 😞

I was excited to eat here! The ambience was nice but the girl at the register was not friendly. The food was good. With so many other restaurant options for the food they sell, good customer service is an important part of the experience.

This Carmelo's location was a tad slow for our in house order and had limited seating. The food however was the same Carmelo's taste and quality which was great to see - for sure a fan of their queso.

I’ve been hearing about Carmelo’s for years + I’m bummed my first experience was a mess, but I’ll give ‘em slack since this location is hella new. My partner requested no cheese on the side of rice + beans + fml, they gave us cheese, but they didn’t give us the taco we paid for. The burrito de nopal was really good tho + the side of grilled jalapeños was surprisingly spicy-spicy! I still really wanna try their tacos bc they make their tortillas in-house. Update: We went back for the tacos de nopales + rice + beans. The tortillas were lovely, but I felt let down. The beans were bland af + the rice had a flavor I didn’t like. They claim their torta bread is vegan, so I’m tempted to go back, but it won’t be anytime soon. Cool backstory: The logo is a reference to the owner’s time working as a miner in Mexico before he immigrated to Seattle in 1991. He started out washing dishes at Cactus (another local chain) + moved up to line cook + stashed money away so he could open the first Carmelo’s in 2018. Updated from previous review on 2025-05-02
The horchata is fabulous, and I enjoyed Al pastor taco, although it’s cubed not sliced nice and charred off a spit. The asada was fine. The carnitas, which I don’t think they had before was a bit overcooked and not as flavorful as I expected. The worst part is that the carnitas had that hard cartilage in it that is real unpleasant to repeatedly bite into. Kind of a bummer. I’ll stick with the pastor next time. Or just go to Dick’s a few doors down. They either don’t have suadero anymore or they were out tonight. Staff was nice, and I was glad to have somewhere to sit. I appreciate that the picnic tables all have wheelchair spots; it’s nice to see the accessibility.

MIND BLOWN. Simply the best tacos and burritos this side of Arizona. Everything i get is a ten. And you can customize items. I tend to pack in the protein and drop the rice. My god, the birria tacos. Oy.

I'd say you won't find much better than this when it comes to decent Mexican food in Seattle. It's not amazing, but it's solid and hits the spot when craving some tacos.
The tortillas are delicious and the flavor is good. Like it better than Tacos Chukis. Horchata is great, but pricey at $5. The agua de Jamaica is too sweet but can water it down. Still need to try the burrito though.
Service is friendly and fairly prompt. Atmosphere is normal. Small place.

Visiting The Emerald City and popped in on a whim. Food was absolutely 💯 👌 My 16yo who is a picky eater cleaned his bowl. The five of us had Asada Tacos, Pollo Burrito, a Crispy Bacon Breakfast Burrito, a Pollo Burrito Bowl and an Al Pastor Burrito Bowl. Just over $50 with tip and tax. Will definitely like to come back and visit again.

Great food and service. I get the El Trio a lot and the grilled jalapenos just about kill me but I keep getting them. Breakfast tacos are tasty, and the Al pastor tacos/burritos are my favorite.

I love the hongo tacos here! The burritos are spicy but good. Perfect with a jamaica drink.
