It was dirty, so I didn't buy the food.

Based on preliminary research, Cedars of Lebanon, which was established in 1974, is the only restaurant still open from when I went to school at UW in the mid-1980s. I don’t recall visiting there when I was a student so I decided to go there for lunch. It is a cramped restaurant with beautiful murals on the wall and supplies stored in booths. I ordered the Gyros Plate, which I thought was the famous sandwich of lamb, veggies, wrapped in pita bread. However, the “plate” is lamb, veggies, rice, and pita bread on the side…kind of a deconstructed Gyro sandwich. I happily ate my meal while reconstructing mini gyros. It was good and the service was great!

The owner is the sweetest! This spot is such a gem — warm, homey, and so welcoming. Every meat dish was juicy and grilled to perfection. Don’t miss this stop while you’re in U Village (and definitely ask for the green hot sauce!)

The falafel was incredible, but the hospitality was even better. I felt right at home. This was an experience I won’t forget.

The food was delicious! This family business is so welcoming and provided a lovely atmosphere for dinner. The food was wonderful, from the falafel plate, hummus, and the baklava. John the owner has so many wonderful stories. Must visit!!
