We ordered at the outdoor counter, ate outside in the covered pavilion looking at the fishing fleet. Delicious Seattle experience.

Delightful Seafood much of which is fresh off the boat. The Cioppino is a particularly good Hidden Gem on the menu.

Chinooks is situated in the middle of a bunch of other businesses similar to a strip mall but it has nice open views inside of the marina. The ships that were on deadliest catch often dock here and there are pictures of them on the walls. The complimentary bread they serve is very good and my friends' seafood pasta was very good with a lemon sauce. We went on a monday and they had reasonably priced all you can eat fish and chips that were tasty as well. However, I was trying to decide between rock shrimp tacos and the halibut, and the server strongly urged me to get the halibut. It was double the price of the tacos at around 60 bucks. I was very disappointed. It had a pineapple salsa on top but otuer than that it was very dry and flavorless. I expected a lot out of fresh washington seafood and It did not deliver. I do wish i had gone with the tacos.

Overall, we have some complaints with some of the entrées in our party. We were a group of 13. Two people ordered the fettuccine Alfredo. Both would give it a seven out of 10. One of us ordered the shrimp and chicken Alfredo and the shrimp were very small, almost seems like they came out of a can. We were expecting larger size shrimp. The prawns in the one entrée were very rubbery seemed overcooked. My husband wanted to order the scallops and asked our waiter how big they were and he gave a really large size example and when they came out, they were extremely small like the size of a quarter! The salmon and the salmon sandwich seemed pretty dry, but the taste was pretty good. Overall, we would rate the food, a seven out of 10. Nothing special wouldn’t go out of our way to go back.

I’ve eaten here several times, service always good, nice atmosphere, and the food is good. The reason my rating is not five stars is this: if you feature an item on the menu claiming it to be “New Orleans Style”, and it doesn’t come close, doesn’t even bare a resemblance to what it claims to be, you will lose a bit of credibility, thusly less stars in ratings. At least from a customer originally from New Orleans. Even if I didn’t have almost 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry, I know the difference between authentic BBQ shrimp (unpeeled prawns sautéed primarily in butter, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper) and peeled shrimp (prawns) warmed in olive oil barely hinting of garlic flavor served atop diced potatoes, which is clearly stated on the menu. Traditionally, New Orleans restaurants serve this dish with a side of rice and crunchy bread, usually French bread.
It’s not that this appetizer didn’t taste good, I ate it with no complaints—I was just disappointed that a restaurant with such a good reputation would falsely advertise a food item as a New Orleans style dish. It brought back my first disappointment upon moving to Seattle from N.O. and was served fried oysters on a hamburger bun when the menu said “New Orleans style Oyster Po’Boy”.
In all honesty I can say that no New Orleans restaurant will claim to feature food as “Pacific Northwest style”. In fact, a word of warning: If you visit N.O., & you see salmon, of any variety, on the menu, don’t order it. Unless you want dry, salty, overcooked fish.
