Bronte's Pistacchio ( Pistachio)
Dambrosio only uses Bronte's pistachio. Bronte's pistachio plant is the pistacia vera, which may live for more than 300 years. It is resistant to hot dry climates and the Bronte native plant grows from Bronte to Ragalna, on the slopes of mount etna, in the Catania province (Sicily). Trees have been known to grow back after being knocked over by the volcano's lava. The Bronte pistachio harvest takes place every two years from the first week of September, after the first rains. If the rains do not occur in late August, the farmer is forced to irrigate the plant a few days before the harvest and this is difficult as many plants are in inaccessible (volcanic material clusters) and steep places which are difficult to harvest or irrigate. Our small batch artisanal gelato is made fresh daily using local dairy from fresh breeze organic. We never use artificial colors, texturizers, stabilizers, or preservatives. Pan au gelato… is just a scoop of ice cream in a lukewarm stale hamburger bun lmfao. Made by a dude without gloves. We have had pan au gelato and it’s fantastic. This was laughable.

But I must say the gelato itself is fantastic so that counts for something??

It’s been a while since I’ve been to D’Ambrosio. I have to say that the interior remodel isn’t my favorite — you can no longer dine in ( and we are a few years out of Covid), but man is their gelato still top notch.

I believe there is a smaller selection of flavors, but each remaining one is so good that it’s hard for me to choose a favorite. That said, you can never go wrong with pistachio.

Absolutely wonderful staff and amazing gelato. The absolute most fresh and delicious gelato I have had an a good while. The staff are all so friendly and provide great recommendations. Prescooped containers for take out and great prices! :)
