Disappointing customer service experience. The cashier was very rude when I requested my takeout order to be packed in my own glass container due to concerns about microplastics. I frequently bring my own reusable cups and containers to restaurants and cafes for environmental and health reasons, and I’ve never had an issue elsewhere. However, Dim Sum King refused to accommodate my request and instead packed the food in their plastic containers, adding an extra charge of nearly 50 cents. Forcing customers to pay for packaging they don’t want is unacceptable. Overall, the experience was frustrating, and I won’t be returning.

The questionable meat from this “restaurant” (if you can even call it that) genuinely gave me and my friend diarrhea.

The lady behind the counter was very rude. The entire atmosphere was uncomfortable because they were yelling the entire time. The experience was awful, as if the food is any good to make up for it. Everything is greasy, the meat is questionable. I almost gagged eating the shu mai because it’s a ball of chunky fatty meat. Do not recommend this place. My friend and I feel sick after eating here.

Not a great atmosphere.
I like the food here. It's the best dim sim in international district.
I've noticed two simple to fix mistakes and I received poor customer service. I'm a regular and so I expected some level of patience and grace, but nope. It's conflicting to continue supporting this business due to the service.

Quick grab and go, food are ok compared to regular dim sum restaurants. If you are doing large order, best to call in the order before sell out. They charge all the to go box, so if you are buying large volumes bring your own box! There is not seating area anymore, so be prepared to eat standing outside the restaurant

A worker opened my bathroom door even though I'm inside using it. The door was locked and they opened it without my consent. Absolutely disgusting and perverse. I won't be coming back.

- quick and delicious -
Okay maybe not so quick when there is a long time, but I've waited for maybe 10 minutes around noon on Sunday to order my takeout. I got 2 egg tarts and 1 melon pan as the peanut mochi that I wanted was sold out. They have order slips by the entrance that you can use to tell them what you want for your order.
It seems you can only pay cash if it's less than $10 dollars, so you can order more to use your card. My order was around $4.6. The egg tart has a super flaky crust, and it was small and thin compared to other places. The tart part was standard with no burnt marks or anything. It's basically small and mighty.. an old hk style egg tart. My husband ate the melon pan so I can't say anything about it lol.
Definitely check it out if you are in the area for some quick dim sum takeout.

Tasty, but I found not one, but two hairs in my box of steamed dumplings.

Long review, but worth it. I don’t know why I went here instead of my regular places for take out dim sum, but I stopped in on Mon around 3pm close to when they sell out. I’ve been here a couple of times before. I didn’t use the paper order sheet but verbally ordered.
I asked for Baked Char Siu Hom Bao and the lady pointed to the 6 already packaged in clear to go container. I asked to confirm that it was char siu and she said yes.
Well it turned out it was a mix of 4 Char Siu and 2 Custard filled baos, and I didn’t notice the slight difference in looks at the time. And the photo shows just a skimpy smear of BBQ pork filling, so disappointing, the worst I’ve ever had. They should be embarrassed to sell these hom baos.
Other items I purchased was shrimp har gao (small and just ok), radish cake (ok) and pork hash which was prob the best of all. I also ordered a couple of sticky rice which I haven’t had yet.
My bill was $36 which I thought was high, but you don’t get an itemized receipt, or receipt of any kind when I paid cash. I even left a tip in the jar.
I always feel rushed to order here like I’m on the stock trader floor just before the bell rings. Won’t be going back.

Amazing food and good prices (per piece not per plate so you could try a big selection. A few tables for eat in but more people doing takeout. Even for eat in it's plastic containers, and only drink bottles/cans from the fridge.
Added a star into the service based on the reply below, great to know you are looking to be rid of the plastic! Thanks so much for the reply.

The food is solid, maybe even the best dim sum in the city. Meaty siu mai, bouncy har gao, excellent turnip cake, and piling portions of chow mein all at extremely affordable prices.
That being said, Dim Sum King is a counter-service style dim sum restaurant with absolutely no frills, service, or atmosphere to speak of. You order by ticking off your choices on a paper menu with little in terms of explanation. There's not much seating either. Know what you're in for and know what you want, if you've never had dim sum before. You're being served by aunties in a hole in the wall, and especially on a busy day they have little patience for inefficiency.
But don't let those things stop you from going. Unless you're looking for a service experience (which is totally fair), Dim Sum King is a Seattle gem.
