Phenomenal food and cocktails! I love their food, they offer so many unique dishes made with fresh ingredients. The staff is very knowledgable and friendly. I've been here about half a dozen times and the experience has always been wonderful. I highly recommend ordering the 'Trees Have Standing' cocktail, it's one of my all-time favorite drinks!

Dishonest 5% 'hospitality fee' added to bill at the end, while still expecting tips. Drinks were good, but good drinks aren't hard to find in Seattle. Don't support greedy owners.

Never had a bad experience at 8R - probably been here 10-15 times over the years. My go-to spot to bring out-of-town guests. As good as anything in New York or Chicago.

Our favorite spot in Seattle! As good as any place we've been in the past few years. Hospitality is incredible, as is the ever-changing menu. Special call-out for the amazing beverage menu of carefully curated wines and beers. Lucky to have this space here!

More like 4 1/2 stars for food and overall! I’m glad we have a place like this in the Greenlake area. It’s a good option to have for a nicer dinner out. Our group (of 5) was taken care of by the great staff (and they even were able to split our bill in the end) during our family style meal. The sourdough bolillos with that dungeness crab butter was delicious. The halibut crab was a nice refreshing dish. I could’ve eaten a whole bowl of that grilled sweet gem Caesar on my own. They even had my fave type of pozole, VERDE pozole. Yum. The duck carnitas tostada sounded good, for me, I think I didn’t love the peach chamoy. The baby carrots with the Oaxacan pasilla hummus was very flavorful. At this point, I’m getting very full, so I’m taking one bite of the rest of the dishes, haha. The octopus was cooked nicely, thankfully not overdone and chewy. I loved the Salish sea halibut, nice and light, no fishy tatse (as it shouldn’t). The carrot cavatelli was nice and comforting and flavorful with the pesto. The wagyu carne asada was nice and medium rare, my beef fat tortilla was a little overdone maybe, since it was harder to fold, not crispy though. Overall a lovely dinner. I’m glad I tried everything. I would recommend this spot. (I do wish they validated parking for the underground parking lot.)

They add a 5% fee on top of all their menu prices. It’s called out in tiny print at the bottom of the menu. IMHO this is a dishonest practice. If I had a tiny print on my shirt that said “I will pay restaurants 5% less than the bill in order to provide my family with fair living conditions” they would not accept it. It’s a sneaky way for them to raise prices but hope customers don’t notice.

Solid wine list. Execution on food was mediocre at best. Ignore the fuss, not worth a try. Shame on James Beard for considering this place….
