Kobe as a burger? What a sham. Kobe is only authorized to be served at a few restaurants in this country. Washington state is not one of them.
Fun place to visit and watch workers catching fish
Decent food, Ok Service, nice restaurant on Westlake Avenue in SLU. Wanted to try this place for a while and it seems it could be pretty good on the right day. First visit was early evening, just before 6pm and they had the bartender running from the bar to tables, acting as both, bartender and server. It was fairly slow to begin, but started picking up and that made his job a bit more challenging.I ordered the Seafood Fettuccine which is supposed to have a tomato cream sauce and obviously fettuccine noodles. Taste was pretty good, however I was served spaghetti noodles in a tomato soup like broth instead. I believe it would've been a really good dish had it been made correctly. I would also suggest a larger bowl or plate to allow noodles to spread out and a side bowl to discard the mussel/clam shells. It was a bit tight all squished inside the small bowl with clams under the noodles at the bottom of that bowl swimming in the broth. The shrimp was fresh and cooked just right, tasted good. A couple of the mussels were good and a couple were very, oddly mushy and fell apart in my mouth, the clams were overcooked and nothing to write home about. I had to ask for bread, which is served with your meal. The atmosphere was decent, but too dark. There's an impressive wine wall and a decent happy hour menu for both drinks and food. Clean restrooms. Good venue for a group event. Open kitchen and large windows. Parking is tough, but buses running both sides of the street and very walkable location.I would like to try again, maybe at lunch next time. I suggest trying at least once.
We were here on Monday night for Happy Hours 830-930pm. It was not really busy, but we like that it wasn't. The menu was tight but good. We started with 2 dozens of oysters, which was $1/ea and they were perfect (smaller but fresh, sweet, and tasty). We also ordered Half-shell Scallops, Drunken mussels, and Fish & Chips. Scallops not again since we just wanted to taste it; I'd prefer the seared steak kind. Mussels are safe, but we had some better one in Portland. But the Fish & Chips were yummy. They're beer battered so they were fluffy, crunchy, and tasted like butter. Basically, everything was good for a reasonable price. I must come back and try the Rock fish when they have it in smaller size. I almost forgot to mention the service was great. Will definitely be back.
It was busy and they forgot our 2nd round of drinks food was good service wasn't what I expected for the price of the meals I will give them a second chance as it was a busy day and they seemed very understaffed
Our first visit to the Flying Fish for a Valentines Day dinner for my wife an I. We had a 5:45 PM reservation and glad we gave ourselves some extra time to find a parking spot. We arrived on time and were greeted and ushered to out table. The Host was friendly and we were greeted by wait staff promptly. We ordered a few cocktails and decided to get appetizers. We decided upon Drunken Mussels and Calamari. Our drinks and appetizers were turned quickly. The drinks were good and we started into the appetizers. The food was appealing, portions were adequate. The Drunken Mussels were in a white wine sauce but most of the mussels were dry and shrunken, not drunken. The Calamari was really overcooked and pretty tough. On to the starters...I had clam chowder and my wife a classic Cesar Salad, both were very good. For our entrée...we both ordered King Salmon with fingerling potatoes and Asparagus. The Salmon was cooked perfectly to our expectations. Great flavor with a light sauce and nice portion size, nice presentation as well. The prices were not bad and although our appetizers were less than average we'd come back again.
The ambience was somewhat compromised by very loud patrons in the lounge next to us. We were seated so that it was impossible not to be distracted by the continuously running televisions. The portions were pretty skimpy - there was as much salmon in another restaurant's bisque as there was on the “large plate” course at Flying Fish. Our waiters were gracious, and the valentine rose was a nice touch.
The food was good. I had oysters on the half and their special of the day (halibut in a tamatillo sauce). I am taking a star off because the service was painfully slow.
The service was so slowwwwww. Not sure if our waiter was the only waiter but, there were only 6 or,so,tables filled. Not sure what is going on with this restaurant as it,usually bustling. Food was good but we had to ask multie times for requests and wait. Had coffee with a friend, the next day and she said last time she was there it was awful. Too bad and will not be,going back, especially with out,of town, guests!
Absolutely loved the ambience of the restaurant, our server was great and the salmon was amazing!!! Definitely have this place on our list when we come back into town

Save your money ... everything in Seattle is way over priced! Food ok... calamari was good nothing else , salads, fish , salmon was anything to write home about - or the atmosphere... $175 for 5 people ... head to the eastside!
Nice place to visit and share a meal. Very friendly and helpful staff!! I will be back! Great Happy Hour menu.
My wife and I go here every other month or so. Happy hour is good, but we mostly love the oysters, sashimi scallops, and small plates (at any time). After dinner drinks (hot toddy, chai tea cocktail) are more notable than the regular cocktail menu, though it's also decent. A couple of great cocktails on the main menu, or a noticeably rotating food menu (most visits seem to have the same or very similar options) would put this right at five stars.
The food this time was even better than last time I had visited. Ambience is good. The last experience with guests was poor when we had to wait for the food to arrive by at least 40min. So this time a side note while booking requesting for quick service really helped.
High end restaurant, great asian fusion food. Happy hour $1 oyster. Im surprised how empty it is.
