Great little gem - fun and fancy. A little pricey but worth it - we dropped $120 and left with two tint boxes - but it was great. Fun to learn

It's that time of year: with a week left before Easter I walked into the flagship store in Georgetown. It's a wonderful store experience. One is always graciously offered a taste of something dark or something milk chocolate. I opted for the dark almond cluster and loved it.But what I was looking for was not there. There's a large white chocolate egg that is decorated with filigree in past years. Of course this year the artists outdid themselves and it was decorated with cherry blossoms. Simply stunning. At $98 it is an absolutely special treat but I have a couple of little ones that matter a lot to me and I was prepared to throw down.Inside the egg are chicks and little eggs and rabbits all done in Chocolate. Unfortunately they were sold out at this location. So I opted to buy some of the smaller chocolate eggs for $18 that had two (white and dark chocolate egg) nestled inside. But the wonderful staff there, Brianna and Patrice, continue to troubleshoot with me when they realized I was really hoping there was an alternative. It's hard to accept a note when your heart is insistent that there is a yes...They decided to call around to see if perhaps some of the other stores still had the last egg despite notes that the company was out. Sure enough we found one the last remaining white egg at the University Village Fran’s. I called and left my credit card so that I could pick it up the next day. Without their willingness to persist with me I would not have found that solution. If you also have very special chocolate lovers I highly recommend the large egg. It's only comes once a year, even if it is spendy. I would so add: take a lesson from me and don't wait till the last week.I don't know if they have vegan chocolate options. I would hope they do but uncertain as of now.

Every time I come here, the ladies inside are so kind and have great recommendations. The shop always has some seasonal offerings and tasting is available for some items. Quiet but friendly interior with a clean bathroom area. The chocolate of course, is always good.

Fran's Chocolates is all about diversity, innovation, and reproducible quality. They have a well-lit production facility you can see through windows. That said, it is all about taste. Fran's has many choices, and they have well curated gift boxes. They do special seasonal items, like a giant chocolate turkey in my photo. Others have posted Easter egg photos that look like sculptures, edible Faberge Eggs! I found them because they graciously hosted Japanese ikebana displays and DIY demonstrations, selfie opportunities with the flowers, and a show of Japanese lacquerware. They paired a selection of Japanese teas with a chocolate tasting. It was their supportive complement to the semi-annual Kyoto Art and Antiques event. Fran's has made beautiful use of the brewery building. There is a stunning two story spiral stair, an iron linear stair, sturdy iron columns, and the original windows. They have a long live-edge slab table with seating. There is an elevated viewing area for the production kitchen adults and children can enjoy. It is a beautiful brewhouse putting our current warehouses and factories to design shame! The space would be perfect for chocolate events. If you buy a box as a gift, be sure you get your own tasting in too!

The absolute BEST peanut butter cup I've ever had. (ALL of their chocolates are divine, but that one in particular stood out for me personally.)

I was helped by a very nice older gentleman, didn't catch his name but he was tall grey hair and cute earring; he took time to explain all the different types of chocolates and options until I found a good fit for me. I looked a mess (dirty work pants and rained on lol) and he was nice and professional.

Stopped by this perennial favorite to buy little treat for a friend. What a refreshing surprise ...the staff were truly helpful, friendly, and knew their product very well. How did they graciously put together a custom box of chocolates for me? I was asked if I would like an ice pack, to keep the chocolates cool in transit . Clearly, this place never got the post Covid memo,; that the new model of customer service is to treat everybody like you don't give a damn. Love the chocolates!! but the service is truly over the top . THANK YOU!
