Fun ambience, kind service, good food! Maybe one of the best places to get food really late.

This is one of those places where IYKYK and if you don’t then it’s not the place for you. This is very casual French food. If you’re looking for bougie French fine dining go elsewhere. I personally love the decor (especially the vintage artwork and rain lamp in the back) but the place is also pretty banged up. But I find myself not caring about any of that because I feel like it adds to the charm. There is one dude there who basically lives there and sometimes the service is slow - but that’s only because it’s packed to the gills and he is truly working up a sweat. Prices are extremely reasonable and food/drink are solid. Don’t forget to watch the cinema on the back wall - my fave movie so far being Persepolis.

Seattle fancy- bad food, small portions, overpriced.

We always love it here. They have a great happy hour, and their menu selections are always very inventive. Last night they had a duck entrée that was to die for.

This a great little place and the funky ambience and pleasant service mostly made up for the food that should’ve been better for the price. Everyone loved the baguette and butter. The beets in the salad were a bit undercooked (should be fork tender) though the arugula was fresh (no hint of mold). The duck breast was overcooked (not even a hint of pink) while the skin was chewy and undercooked instead of crispy. The limp frites were mostly potato ends though still edible with the aioli that could have used more garlic. I found the penne and cheese sauce texture a bit gritty but the flavor was very good. My vegetarian Croque Monsieur with mushrooms was a creative interpretation and tasty enough to finish even if a bit overcooked. A dinner companion reported the steak was very good. The cocktails were excellent and I’m happy to come back just to have another Jacques Dutronc. The service was friendly and helpful—thankfully nowhere near as snobby as many bars in Paris. If you’re having dinner and a drink for four, don’t expect to leave before shelling out for much less than $200 if you’re tipping appropriately.

“The energy is so good here, it hugs you”. Love this place, can’t help but visit once a week.

I've been here twice now and have gotten the steak frites both times because it's just that damn good. It's the most expensive item on the menu, and at $24 it's a steal considering the pan sauce and the seasoned fries checks all the umami boxes so well, both times I nearly ordered seconds. This most recent time I went with friends for happy hour and got olives and the beet salad as well, both of which were fantastic and a great deal for happy hour. The cocktails are on point as well. One friend and I shared the crème brûlée for dessert; it was a pretty small portion for two, so I recommend not sharing on this one. Gainsbourg has a quirky boho-french decor that's unpretentious and super cozy. Definitely recommend for small groups, date nights or even solo trips (like my first visit). I'll definitely be back sometime soon.

Went in and checked out for a light late night bite and a beverage with a few people. Staff were ok but not super friendly. Food was expensive for what it was (small bowl of macaroni around $16 with oil and cheese and a hand sized side salad) French food heavy. Smelled a little funky like old cheese and grill smoke. Tried it one time. $85 bill for 3 of us each had an appetizer and a drink with one soda. Could do better in the area.

Been coming here for 6 years. It's always incredible. Worth the wait. This restaurant is so legit they make their own ketchup. In a 2-block radius of 5+ restaurants that serve poutine (including a Canadian restaurant), Gainsbourg's vegetarian mushroom gravy poutine is triumphant!!
